Why not us?? Before the tournament everybody was putting auburn and Kentucky as potential 1 seeds. We beat both teams!! Kentucky twice!! Why can’t we be a number 1 if we win the conference championship? Am I missing something??
I’m reading that people even have Tennessee as a 3 seed? That’s absolutely a smack to the face of this team.!
If we win tomorrow what holds us back from the one seed? If Kentucky wins the tournament I can almost guarantee they would get the 1 seed and we’ve had a better season then them imo.
We’re not getting a 1 seed. But just for argument sake, Gonzaga, Arizona, and Kansas are undoubtedly #1. Baylor won arguably the toughest conference in the country, and ranks higher than us in the NET, and both resume and quality metrics in the teamsheets. They have just as many Q1 wins but with fewer losses. There’s really no strong justification that TENNESSEE would be seeded over them
I agree but with a win today, we should be the first 2 seed or at worse, the 2nd - 2 seed. That would put us in same bracket with Baylor or Kansas, which I like better than having to be in same bracket as Arizona or Gonzaga. Would love to avoid them until we absolutely had too. We’re not getting a 1 seed. But just for argument sake, Gonzaga, Arizona, and Kansas are undoubtedly #1. If Tennessee beats A&M today there is a good chance we get the nod for the last #1 seed. The SEC is as tough a conference as any this year.
Why would we have to bump Auburn or Kentucky? I mean, I think there’s a strong argument for us being the highest of the SEC teams. But all 3 of us could be 2s with either Villanova or Purdue. No chance. Zero....zip. It's not even 50/50 that we'll get a #2 seed......in order to do that we'll have to bump Aub. or KY to a three. If the tourney selection people would favor the last 10 games played, we'd be a shoo-in for a two.....but that's not the case anymore, Sad but true..
Purdue and Duke are #2 seed locks, so there is no room for all 3 of us (Aub, KY, TN). And since Aub and KY have been above us.....hence the reason why we'd have to bump them. Which IS a possibility - we have a #8 NET after all...Why would we have to bump Auburn or Kentucky? I mean, I think there’s a strong argument for us being the highest of the SEC teams. The committee has gone out of their way to pooh pooh the notion of favoring recent performance. They pinky-swear they've taken last 10 games played off the table. We're 8th in the NET and 8th in KenPom. Unless the committee weights recent performance higher than body of work it would be reasonable to expect a 2 seed. Provided we win today, that is.
Purdue and Duke are definitely not 2 seed locks. Could they both get 2 seeds? I guess. But I don’t think both will.Purdue and Duke are #2 seed locks, so there is no room for all 3 of us (Aub, KY, TN). That’s what I’m saying!! Like why does Kentucky deserve a 2? We beat them twice and we rank higher then them in those categories. Coach cal must have some calluses on his kneesRight now were still a three seed in the latest bracketology and Kentucky is a two according to Lunardi even thought we have a better sos, rpi, and one more Q 1 and 2 win plus have beaten Kentucky 2 of 3 times. If we win today no way we should be lower than a two. Really should be a one with a win, but these bracketology guys really have me confused.
I'll put our resume up against both UK and AU. I've always heard the committee gives weight to how a team is playing at this time of year. If so, how do we not get the nod over those two teams? Especially Auburn. Will the committee ignore our wins against those two? If we win the the title today, we'd have to be above both those teams at which ever line we end up on. I can't see any metric that doesn't favor us vs UK/AU.I agree..they’ll want Kentucky and Auburn to be #2 seeds..plus you have Purdue that if they win today has pretty much been above us all year
