Number 1 Seed.

******* Lunardi just said on national television that Tennessee won’t get a 2 over Auburn and Kentucky because we’ve “been behind them in the pecking order all season.” Said we didn’t get second in the conference (we tied) and the head-to-head against Kentucky and Auburn “doesn’t matter.”

I honestly am lost for words after hearing that. He’s basically saying all the substantive reasons why we have a better resume don’t matter because … well, because that’s just not the narrative.

Total joke. We deserve a 2 seed over both of them—no question.
I’m baffled by his “explanation”; he provided no data or a analytical reasoning to support his claim. ESPN should be embarrassed for trotting him out there with that answer.

Also said that we don't have to like it but we are going to have to deal with it! What a damn joke!

If we hadn't layed egg against Texas and Texas Tech them we would be a # 1 seed
AU’s best win is literally UK; a team we beat 2x in addition to beating AU head to head. AU’s toughest OOC game played was UConn and they lost, we played and beat a top 2 Zona team. They flamed out in SECT, we won it.

UK’s best win is top 5-7 KU team on the road, ours is the aforementioned Zona team at home. Edge UK. We own 2 wins over them, and wins over AU and Arky, whom they lost to. Edge UT. They went 1-1 in SECT, we won it going 3-0.

There’s ABSOLUTELY nothing of substance that should keep us from a 2 seed and certainly nothing that should have us behind our own direct competition.

If we remain a #3 seed and they send us to West with Gonzaga it's a travesty .. should be on the 2 line anyway ... our resume puts us there .. if we had beat Texas and Texas Tech .. both losses we laid eggs .. there be no doubt ....

I understand your point …but missing a shot at the buzzer and taking TT to OT both on the road..isn’t my definition of laying an egg…JMO of course.

I don’t care if we get a 2 or a 3 seed. I mean honestly, what’s the difference, really? In the sweet 16, if you are a 2 seed, you face a 3 seed. If you are a 3 seed, you face a 2 seed. So, there’s no real difference there. It’s essentially the same path. And is facing a 7 seed in round 2 really that much more important than facing a 6? If you can’t beat a 6 seed to get into the sweet 16, you don’t deserve either. Actually, I hope we do get a 3 seed as the disrespect might provide extra motivation for our team.

Ok? Where did I say that Tennessee didn’t have an argument for a 1 seed? I was simply responding to someone who said that he didn’t understand how Baylor was a 1 seed.

Where did I say that you said that?

This thread is on a UT basketball forum concerning a thread about the #1 seed is it not?

it’s about the respect, or lack of.

I also root for the Zags started when we lived in WA. Having said that I think this Vols team can beat the Zags. Bama beat them earlier this season.

If it were Duke, UNC and say a Wake Forest, all three would be 2 seeds and there’d be no debate about it.
GBO!!

They just said on the selection show that if Kentucky or Auburn won the SECT, they could have supplanted Baylor for the last 1.

WELL HOW ABOUT THE TEAM THAT JUST NOTCHED THREE WINS AGAINST KENTUCKY AND AUBURN????
