Number 5 seed .

Of course he's near retirement. That some start suggesting it after a tough loss on the road is remarkably stupid. Idiots said the same type things last after early losses to MSU and Texas A&M. It's a fundamental lack of understanding of the game and the marathon season
While I wanted to win yesterday, I don’t want to win all our games right now. It’s not realistic to win them all and I want to be playing our best ball in March, not January. This is the time to figure things out, take some lumps and hopefully learn and improve from those lumps.

Weren’t we ranked #1 for a historic amount earlier this season? What happened to you guys? I get it sucks we lost but why the melt down?

I’m not a big bball fan so genuinely confused.
Most if these guys freaking out arent either.. that's the point. Go look up the final records of National championship teams.

Wait i'll do the homework for everyone. Since 2000 13/24 champs lost between 5-9 games. DI Men's Basketball Championship History | NCAA.com

This includes 8 games losers Uconn in 2023 and 2014 9 loss UConn in 2011. If you go back a little further there have been multiple 10-loss teams. Ever since the 80's basketball got really competitive you rarely see 1 and 2 loss teams. We are at 2... well within the envelope. Since 2000 only twice have teams with less than 3 losses won it all Kentucky in 2021 and Baylor in 2021 with 2 losses each. At the rate the season is going there won't be a single team with less than 4 losses left. The majority of the top 25 currently have 3-4 losses and the only one loss team left is Auburn.

Funny thing I noticed while checking this out did you know that since 1999 Uconn has been the most dominant basketball team? Why is it always a team in blue? The runners-up are Kansas, Duke, Villanova, and UNC with some Florida for flavor. NCAA men's basketball takes the whole bluebloods thing a bit far lol. Since 1999 21 of the 25 Nattys went to schools featuring blue in their colors. Only Baylor, Louisville, Maryland and Michigan State have broken up the party. So 2 red 2 green.

I was thinking the exact same thing as soon as it happened. A little 8-10 foot pull up might have been an easier look than going to the rack, but I think his mind was as much on getting to the line as it was scoring on the drive. Kid made a great defensive play.

Really tough ending for Chaz, who really is learning under fire how tough this league is and what a big step he took coming here. I think he has the right attitude and will become a solid contributor, if not the next DK everyone was hoping for, before this season is done.
Yep. Fantastic block.

I think this team is a good team / not a great team. I know many of the metrics point to being a great team . . . But the lack of a dominant big and depth is my reasoning for saying we are “good not great.” I think - unless they get a terrible matchup in an early game . . . This team is a sweet 16 team.

Anything can happen in college BB if you make the sweet 16. Look at NC State last year. It’s about who gets hot at the right time and / or who can survive a game in which you are not at your best.

I liked the drive but Lanier didn’t position his body well to shield his shot. As crazy as it sounded earlier this year, Gainey is our best shot creator. He finds ways to score the ball. Chaz does well also but in an iso scenario I like Gainey better as he’s better at pulling up for those mid-range jumpers and he’s a better finisher at the rim. Plus, Gainey has played a year and a half of this kind of ball vs half a year. It helps.

Oh look, we’re still #6 in the AP poll. Didn’t drop at all.
#4 in Net, too.
We need that Mississippi State win in a bad way.
I mean in terms of keeping our #1 seed hopes alive.
We probably don't end up getting that top seed, but as long as we have a shot I'm going to be rooting for it.🙂

I will take a 2 seed right now, but certainly want a 1. Either way, it gives us the best chance in the tournament, which BTW, is shaping up as the SEC national Invitational

Got that Mississippi State win ✔️
Be nice to win at Barn but we still ok with chasing the #1 seed if we lose.
Would have been real nice if USCjr. wouldn't have choked last night and handed Flordia another loss. Now both Bama and Flordia at home are pretty much must wins if we want that #1 seed.

Nice Top 15 win to add to our resume. Despite all the clutching of pearls and doomsday predictions here we are - right on track as the highest 2 seed in many brackets which means the 1 seed is def in play. Obviously, still a lot of tough games on our schedule and we will lose again. Having said that, most posters don't seem to comprehend what it means for the avg SEC team to have 15 of their 18 conf games come against a quad 1 team (esp on the road). There's a reason why going into conf play the Top 16 teams in their SOS were all SEC.

There’s a friendly competition in play for which team gets the higher seed. The Lady Vols or CRB’s boys? The LVs are around a #4 right now. Another close loss last night (at Texas). Men are probably a #2 or #3 with several difficult games in the next 2 weeks.

Coach Kim had her baby yesterday.
