'20 NV ILB Vai Kaho (San Diego State commit)

No one’s brought up that word ceptin yourself. Maybe you misread high rate of success evaluating prospects? And you’re really ramping up the stakes with this life and death talk. Recruiting talk should be lighter and fun...Xanax could be a real good friend to you.
Lol Mr. light and fun currently engaged in arguments in about 3 different threads. I like CJP and his recruiting and player development. Reserve the right to question stuff as always. Low-ranked, scant offered guy with slow documented 40 time. Hope he comes to UT and tears it up and proves me wrong

So...no one but you...with the “infallibility” line? And much respect searching my posts...don’t share the interest in how many windmills you’re jousting. 😏

I have not. Spent three months in 29 Palms, CA for military training, lived in Texas for 4 years. Other than that, that's the farthest west I've been.
it's the barrio. very dirty.

been offered to go to Cali several times. Each time, i dunno. I went fishing or some ****.

I guess no one but me. I suppose for someone with little football knowledge all you can do is “trust the coaches “. That’s fine, they are professionals, but even they miss once in awhile. And it seems like someone going on blind faith that every recruit will work out wouldn’t be so quick to crap on the idea they might not.

And for someone with no interest in my posts u sure do respond to a lot of them. Let it die.

When ya going to unleash all that football knowledge you been holding back on? With the coaches we have a track record to base it on. Your self-declared football genius acumen would require said “blind faith” from those who haven’t seent it from you.

You die first and show us the way. 😏

For me, it’s trusting this staff over the previous 2. I don’t trust Butch Jones to evaluate cashiers at Pilot let alone, LBs or QBs. I’ve noticed a couple of times already that once we offered, others did too. I’d rather it be that way than us following someone else’s eval.

On Butch, hindsight is 20/20. There was a time in here when folks trusted his staff evals as well. They’re all great until they aren’t.

There’s a difference between skeptical and cynical. You, my friend are as cynical as they come. I hope you find what your looking for, I really do.

I don’t. He’s funnier miserable as a meth head. At least funnier than his honest attempts at being so.

Did I say I have a bevy of knowledge? I know enough to look at a guy with one power 5 offer who runs a 4.92 and say “hmm”. Maybe I am missing something with him, but so are a ton of other coaching staffs.

Also, with this staff do we have a track record to base anything on? We have CJP’s track record as an assistant, where he’s a cog in the wheel, and the HC ultimately has the final say.
We have a hastily put together 2018 class and a crop of true freshmen that look promising, but really not enough to thoroughly grade his recruiting until we see how some of these kids pan out. And his ability to find production in overlooked kids definitely is tbd.

Lol maybe y’all haven’t been around that long. Every guy from Kiffin to Butch to Pruitt has been the savior at least at one moment in time. So, yeah, pardons if I remain a tad cynical as I wait for results. We all ultimately want the same thing here.

I don’t recognize this post! Reasonable discussion points, no failed humor attempts or sweeping generalizations towards posters with opposing viewpoints...you outsourcing?

He’s back. 😴

What results do you need to see?? I hated Pruitt after Ga St and wanted him fired... yet even I can see that he’s been able to coach these boys up and has been able to recruit on a high level. EVERY coach misses from time to time. A 5 ⭐️ at Bama hasn’t been going to class all season. Is Saban an idiot?

Reminds me of a slower Aaron Beasley. Not impressed now but maybe the staff can make him into something.

Roman Harrison was close to a 2* last year when we offered... he ended up Defensive Player of the Year in his division of Georgia, closed as a 4*

We've had 2 already this class that have moved to 4* since they committed... Mordecai McDaniel and Jimmy Calloway... they haven't even done Senior season evaluations yet...

Hyatt is for sure moving up, he recently broke the TD record for South Carolina... Butler has a place-holder rating having only played football one year and is putting up crazy numbers... McDonald should end the year as a composite 4*, already is on Rivals...

So that leaves a long snapper, which won't ever be rated high I think he's the #5 LS in the country if I remember correctly... the #1 RB in the state of Tennessee... an ATH the staff liked that blew up a Vols camp... and 3 o-linemen that were wrecking people in camps and on film that I don't particularly care if they move them up at all because historically those sites are awful at grading o-linemen (see Wisconsin's o-line classes for the past 20 years vs how many R1 guys they put out)

So what exactly are you pointing to that leads you to believe our staff can't evaluate players?

A winning season would be a good start. I’m willing to give him the time he needs, I didn’t want him fired early, but I won’t crown him yet either. Beating Mizzou on the road would go a long way tho...

How many of those guys you named have made an impact on the field yet? The Pruitt bump means his peers respect his ability but all that is ultimately meaningless without seeing their on-field production.

I think all those guys you mentioned are promising. Just have questions about this one singular kid

Kaho has dealt with an ankle injury for much of the season and played in just 8 games, but he's still tallied 44 tackles, 14 TFL and 3 sacks. He's also rushed 13 times for 144 yards and 3 TDs and caught 5 passes for 111 yards and 1 TD.

Good preseason video piece on Kaho; he's another natural leader/coach on the field:

Oh you will know Roman Harrison's name on Saturdays.... I'd imagine starting next year taking Taylor's place on the edge... I would be more surprised if he doesn't have his name somewhere on Neyland before his career is up than if he did...

but all these "Pruitt bumps" that I pointed out aren't necessarily just "Pruitt bumps"... they're HS statistical standouts that were picked by this staff before they broke the meters... most of the people I pointed out haven't signed with us yet, so clearly you're not going to see production on a college football field from them...

As far as last class goes... there's about half of it that sees regular playing time out of the 22 we signed... most of the rest is redshirting... so... I don't know what you're looking for unless you want me to apologize on behalf of Pruitt for not competing with the defending National Champions in recruiting
