'20 NV ILB Vai Kaho (San Diego State commit)

I just don't think he's fast enough. Interesting thought.

Watch his film on RB screens, flats, etc. I think that’s how we’d use him. Bigger Nigel Warrior. Warrior was never fast. Used to get burned all the time deep.. Pruitt had him come up and play short zone and he started popping people behind the line on east/west throws. Shamburger too small/weak to play STAR and got killed on running plays about 80% of the time. Buchanan wasn’t much bigger but would hit. If we had a better safety, Warrior would’ve been a great STAR. Gotta have someone willing to blow up a block or run through the ball carrier.

If no one will convince you otherwise, why are you still talking about it?

Just suggested numbers might mean he won't get in and Kaho fan club got all butt hurt. But you know that. Just here to pile on with the rest.

That's not at all what was said. You really went back a ways to point out me being wrong. Well I am sometimes.

I believe I was trying to talk myself out of Henry T going to Bama being a big kick in the balls at the time. Because he for sure was at the time. Definitely did not expect Henry to make the immediate impact he did, nor JJP to come in and be the flub he's been so far.

Do you ever wonder charger when you're being a prick to other posters on here that it might be somebody who.... well never mind. Don't want to go there. Hope all is well.

For someone that didn’t want to go there, you took the express train there. Probably makes that the very definition of prick.

I wonder what Nigel's 40 time is...

You may be right man. Just had always heard Pruitt wanted him at LB. Was worried about him adding weight with the speed at his current size already questionable.

But there is such a thing as game speed, and you may be right. Time will tell I guess.

Thanks for your civility, anyway.

It was still biting back what I meant. But what I meant was not exactly what he thought.

Doesn't matter now anyway. I'll own the prick moment.

Don’t want to but was compelled nonetheless. Let me guess...you donated? Good for you, my man! Lot of us did! I would say MOST didn’t think it entitled us to a lifetime free pass on our opinions. I’ll volunteer my take on this recruitment with no demands on your part. For WHATEVER REASON, Kaho is a higher priority for these coaches than Tisdol, Whitehead and Grimes. It boils down to do you trust their evaluations over faceless eggheads with way less credentials? I get it if you feel no, but when you venture your opinion on the board with a little salt added, you shouldn’t bristle when you get the response you solicited. And you do so when you post an opinion on here. I’ve received blowback...we all have. Best not to drive nails into your own palms...you may need em.

He’s 215 right now. But his listed 6’2 is inaccurate. Closer to 6’ (see pic standing with Pruitt yesterday on visit). Even at 6’ 225 hes small for a 3-4 LB. You understand that right? Our guys are all 6’3 240 average. French is coming in at 260. Eason 250. JJP, Henry, Bituli, Jordan Allen, Johnson, Darrell Taylor etc. are 235 to 260.

And he’s in no way, shape or form... more explosive than Henry T. Straight line speed probably faster in the 40, yes but weighs 30 lb less than Henry. But explosion isn’t even comparable. 3-7 yard burst is not even really debatable.

All that said, again, I like this kid and I see him as a 6’1 220 STAR thumper. He’s played safety and LB so coverage near LOS would be very strong.

I keep having to explain this. In the 3-4 it is reversed in regards to the size of the LBs from a 4-3.

The inside guys have to cover more. They're genrally smaller (Reuben Foster 6" 227 and most of Bamas inside backers) Check UGAs ILB the past 4 years too...

Shannon Reid and Will Ignot were both 6'0 225. Banks was 6'1 220...ILB..To'oto'o and Crouch have so much athleticism they can play ILB.

Taylor and Johnson Bennett are 250-260.

Again, he's visiting a bunch of kids. And again, he can't take all of them. I'm sure he wants all of them.
You can't even tell me why he's better than any of the guys I mentioned. You just hold hands with Trip and say I don't know football. Laughable.
Curious to know why they're better than him? Kurrott Garland was arguably one of our better DL this year without the stars coming out. Our staff is beginning to display an ability to develop personnel, so let's take the wait and see approach.. Here for dialogue Ben

Whitehead is certainly better, Eason is better, and it's my view that Tisdol is better too. Have u heard Pruitt say Kaho takes priority over those guys

Of course he hasn't. The guys arguing with you in this thread - it's what they say to themselves to justify taking a 3 star from The Mountain West.

Agree mostly. But remove Kaho from the LB debate and have him as being recruited to play STAR for us in Pruitts D. I like him there a lot. He’s not Eason or Whitehead. He’s a hybrid type kid with coverage ability and great near the LOS. More like a bigger Nigel Warrior.

The skill-set you just explained is the ILB of our defense...

Bituli is there beside To'oto'o, but it's not ideal. But you have to get your best 4 on the field and he's the best.

Solon Page is also at ILB at 6'2" 225 lbs.

Lol you just listed guys who transferred or never played until we had attrition. Banks was 230. Ignont was 233. Both still technically undersized for Pruitts D. You realize you’re looking at our 2019 roster which was bare and not suited for his D beyond the starters. Look at who Pruitt is after at LB... Eason, French, etc. Even McDonald is looking at STAR and he’s same size as Kaho. Look at Pruitt’s past Ds not what he inherited from Butch Jones dude lol. Guys that look like Rolando McClain and Hightower, not Solon Paige and Shannon Reid lol. Butch guys.

And yes, all LB play RB in space but in a 3-4 the STAR is a LB hybrid since you’re really playing your 4th LB as a stand up rusher in most situations, ie DT.

You don’t know what you’re talking about my man. But go at it.

Expected nothing less.

No I actually didn't give, because I only noticed on the tail end of the whole thing anyway.

Charger is obviously not doing anything wrong. I simply wondered from his perspective if it changed anything. I've lurked around here for awhile and he's one of the contingent here that seems to enjoy popping in and telling folks their takes suck, and I'm paraphrasing. Lots of posters do that, I guess they shy away from conflict in their every day lives so they scratch some sort of combative itch in here. Anyway I guess I just wondered if he ever dealt with a dilemma over it. Doesn't sound like he did, and that's ok.

And you're the A1 defender of such folks butchna. Your assertion is that if your take sucks, you'e inviting it on yourself. The tendency of many in here is to warp any nuanced argument and place it into a two-sided, black and white, hate it or love it situation. And you end up arguing something that you never really posited in the first place.

But I guess I finally bit back a little too hard. I'll go ahead and do the public mea culpa to charger. Sorry dude.

The Alabama players you mentioned were from before Pruitt becoming dc. Go look at lb from when he was dc at bama, fsu and Georgia. Ilb were all 230 to 240. The 3-4 has changed a lot the last ten years to keep up with changing offenses and passing attacks.

I can easily see Pruitt asking Kaho to hold off signing in December so he can see how his numbers shake out. If that happens I'd bet on the kid jumping on board at Colorado.

I'm not going through the whole how good is or isn't Vai Kaho again with y'all relentless homers, simply stating the obvious that this is a numbers crunch and y'all won't convince me this kid is better than 6 or 7 of the remaining guys we're in on.
You don’t have to convince us. Pruitt makes the decisions around here.

Well, Pruitt was Director of Player Development 2007-2009 when Hightower came in.

Doesn’t change the point of the 3-4 D he uses. Still what he’s after. Christian Miller 6’3 250, etc. Majority of the LB in 3-4 are monsters not 6’0 215 to 220. Kaho and McDonald both would make helluva STAR in his D!

Well while I have you here let me question one of said decisions. Pruitt will send 13 or 14 defender on the field and then depending on what set is called the extra will run off. Well it's bitten us a few times now. Not sure if he got that from daddy Saban and if that was a similar situation that bit him in the Iron Bowl.

Just sayin', maybe a different approach to substitutions should be considered. Slaughter commence.

I’m sure @benholt06 has really broken down a ton of game film to speak so definitively on these players.

It’s just a coincidence he ranks how effective they’ll be by how they’re rated on each site.

Be honest buddy.... you prefer Tisdol because he’s a four star. Hate Kaho because he’s only got three. We get it.
