'20 NV ILB Vai Kaho (San Diego State commit)

duuuuude you’re annoying. 2016 Alabama roster from official site... linebackers....

Look at 2016 roster.... linebackers Ryan Anderson 6’2 253, Ben Davis 6’2 237, Terrell Lewis 6’4 247 (as a freshman), Mack Wilson 6’2 245, Anfernee Jennings 6’3 260, Josh Mcmillon 6’3 240, Derrick Garnett 6’3 240..... and I didn’t include Tim Williams at LB because he played the Darrell Taylor role but he was 6’3 250.

Are you using the same Google I am???? Hahaha
Here is the official Alabama 2016 depth chart and link to the 2016 roster. I circled the inside linebackers so you can see the difference. The only guy you listed that was actually an inside linebacker is mack Wilson (who was 3rd string that year and didn't play all that much so not sure he should even count). And again this supports my point. When Pruitt went back to bama in 2016 mack Wilson was bigger than he prefers his mlb to be. So the next season he was down to 236 according to the 2017 official roster I posted earlier. Every other player you listed was either an outside linebacker or didn't play much. We can do this with Georgia in 2014 and 2015 too if you want but it seems pointless. If you refuse to believe the mountain of evidence I've already provided then doing more work isn't worth my time. I guess providing actual information to support my point is annoying so I'll let you keep believing old myths about 3-4 defense.

Kaho tells 247 what Pruitt's message to him is.

“He’s just talking to me a lot about the type of guys that have my type of body and my type of size and the kind of people he’s turned them into, the type of players he’s turned them into, as far as Telvin Smith — even as far as Roquan Smith — and just telling me that I could be playing there, which is definitely a blessing.
Interesting guys Pruitt compares him to.

Hey, here’s an idea.... let’s see where he plays IF he even ends up at UT. Moot point until then. If he’s at ILB then great! I don’t care to be incorrect. I hope he’s a hall of fame ILB if he’s a Vol. It’s all opinions until it’s a fact. You’re spending all this time photoshopping Alabama rosters. I’m looking at Kaho and he doesn’t fit what I’ve seen Pruitt use at ILB. Bituli is the mold.

I just said I was wrong about something else a minute ago with a blueshirt deal. I’m okay with being wrong but I think Kaho fits as a STAR / edge guy and not inside because he won’t hold up in the run game in my opinion with his frame. Let’s see if he’s a Vol, then let’s see in 4 months where he’s at.

I don’t think he’s fast enough for Star. After a rough start, Shamburger has morphed into the ideal size/speed prototype for that spot imo...just has to land that mental part dismount. I think Kaho fills out under Fitz and the nutrition staf and is taking many snaps at ILB by his second year on campus. We definitely don’t agree on his frame...solid, stout looking kid.

Shamburger was awful in run support. Got better in coverage but he’s nowhere near physical enough and when he blitzed he took terrible angles. IMO Warrior is actually the perfect STAR but he played safety because we had no one else back there. How many plays did Warrior make at or near the LOS?

T McDonald has been mentioned in the STAR role and he’s 220. I think that position needs to be someone who can hit. Buchanan did pretty well at it but opposite of Shamburger he wasn’t good in coverage. Need mix of both.

We wanted Pappoe for our STAR last cycle, remember? He’d have fit it beautifully.

Do you at least agree that the 4 main MLB from that roster who all got drafted, Reuben foster, Shaun Dion Hamilton, rashaan evans and mack Wilson, were able to hold up in the run game? Because all 4 were listed at either 6 foot or 6'2" or 6'3" and between 228 and 236 the year before being drafted. Kaho seems to be in that height range. So if Pruitt thinks he can get to that weight range without losing athleticism it's reasonable to think he's being recruited as an inside linebacker. I don't personally know if he can. Just pointing out the standard size mlb Pruitt seems to favor.

Would be epic if his brother entered the transfer portal from Bama if he commits to us. Was the #1 ILB out of HS. Alabama been using him as an Hback mostly and special teams.
Bet his brother would be playing LB if Pruitt was still the coach. He actually knows how to develop defensive players

Kaho is around 6 ft. I don’t see him getting to 235. His brother is 6’1 228 and was moved from ILB to Hback at Alabama due to being “undersized”. Do they have guys 228 playing ILB? Sure. But frames are different. He was a 5*. Same build as Vai. Gotta be able to shed off OL coming at you. If his frame is near max at 215, pushing to 225-230 may not make sense for him. Prime playing weight matters.

I’m fine saying ILB can range from 225 to 245, never said they had to be 260. They have been before. I said Bituli is prototype. 6’3 235-240 and rangy. I think you stuck on weight more. I’m more focused on their frames. All those Bama LBs were rangy as anyone in college football. Wide shoulders, looked thin at 6’2 230-245.

Shamburger and Warrior same body types. Warriors’s fundamentals took off about the middle of the season...before that basically the same player. When Shamburger’s head is on straight, he’s an explosive tackler and I’m hoping that’s what we see in the next season. But his body type isn’t a problem. There’s no ONE fit at Star but I don’t see Kaho there. McDonald seemed perfect for it when he committed but I keep hearing VQ say that he’s being looked at ILB as well...guess we’ll see.

All of these big time Pruitt MLB's are 6'1 or shorter. And 232 pounds or less.

Here's a few big names from Georgia in Pruitt's time there.

Come on guys enough with the arguing already. We are all here to gain information about our beloved Vols and not to have to skip through 3 pages of arguments. Some people get too personal. How about agree to disagree and get back on topic.
Agendas...that is why it gets personal. Those that have been here long enough, know those that have them.

This kid runs a 4.9 Forty that’s not fast you can’t play linebacker with that kinda speed in the Sec
He’s faster than others when the pads go on. Vontaze Burflict clocked a 5.0 at the Combine and he was a force in college and subsequently the NFL when his brain wasn’t on IR he was HOF level. We get too hung up on 40 times. You train for something in shorts and never get timed again...#Science.

Not sure how vested he is in that comment, or any others for that matter...
