We’ve got 2 talented freshmen RB’s waiting to play and return Small and Wright. It’s going to take a really good RB to come in and see the field next year
Small is average and Fumbleina Wright can’t hang on to the ball. I like Sampson but is he ready? We need at least 2 backs next class. WR’s see Hyatt catching 5 TD’s on Bama and are amazed. Imagine Tank Bigsby or Gibbs from Bama in this offense. We need a dynamic back next year.
Yes...we do need a big strong back that runs angry. Evidently they are hard to find. We have had a few big dudes over the years that just don't run with enough attitude. JW-T could be that guy, especially after a couple of years in S&C, but I've not seen any of that physical attitude from him yet.Tennessee needs a Jalen Hurd type running back for Heupel's offense.
I formation ain't got to do with a kid running big and angry. A lot of times in this offense you are running downhill at only 5-6 guys in the box. Those guys get sick of getting hit for 4 yards a pop by a freaking battering ram....which makes passing easier and your small quick guys even more elusive. But we don’t run the I formation?
I think he was referring to Hurd being disgruntled about not having a lead blocker after they used one in the bowl game vs. Northwestern.I formation ain't got to do with a kid running big and angry. Marshawn Lynch was no speedster...he was just big, strong and pissed off at whoever got in his way
We really don't lol.Tennessee needs a Jalen Hurd type running back for Heupel's offense.
Hurd also carried the ball more..... he also had less turnovers and was a superior blocker... Hurd was used as a battering ram and he was tired of being beaten to sh1t for a snake oil coach. Now, that doesn't excuse Hurd quitting on his team. But let's be real Butch Jones did nothing for any of those kidsWe really don't lol.
A Kamara type would be deadliest. Quick through the hole, open field vision...avoids tacklers rather than stupidly plowing into them for less yards...a menace out of the backfield catching the ball.
Hurd was out there averaging 3.3 ypc by his last year. I'm good.
His upsides in no way overtook his downsides at the end of the day. Reason he became a WR.Hurd also carried the ball more..... he also had less turnovers and was a superior blocker... He was ruined by a half ass clown we had to fire. At the end of the day some men mold leaders.. Some do not. BUTCH never led a thing.... not even band practice. AK is an all world talent but who ? Kept him on the bench.... Bingo Butch. His upsides in no way overtook his downsides at the end of the day. Reason he became a WR.
Playing hi over AK was a crime and we would always have better fits in this offense. This offense sure as hell doesn't need a slower bulldozer type that gets worse as the game wears on.
Bigsby would have made a huge difference last Saturday.Small is average and Fumbleina Wright can’t hang on to the ball. I like Sampson but is he ready? We need at least 2 backs next class. WR’s see Hyatt catching 5 TD’s on Bama and are amazed. Imagine Tank Bigsby or Gibbs from Bama in this offense. We need a dynamic back next year.
You have no imagination if you can't understand why a "battering ram" that gets 3-4 yards every freaking time he gets the ball is a valuable weapon....I have seen a lot of those hosses over the years, and big doesn't mean we want slow, and there is a LOT to be said for having a back that WILL get you a yard when you need that yard. His upsides in no way overtook his downsides at the end of the day. Reason he became a WR.

Imagine if butch would have let Hurd play receiver like he wanted and Kamara in the backfield, would have been unstoppable. That team underachieved for how much talent they had because of that loser smh.His upsides in no way overtook his downsides at the end of the day. Reason he became a WR.

Yeah Bama was probably the only team that had more talent and it wasn’t that much separation. We also had a better QB than they did. We had a championship caliber roster, just didn’t have a good coach.Imagine if butch would have let Hurd play receiver like he wanted and Kamara in the backfield, would have been unstoppable. Obviously everybody would like to have one of those guys. Those guys are extremely rare. You can't just put a big kid back there and expect him to dominate like that. People spent the last 2 years saying Dee Beckwith was the next D. Henry. Just because somebody has the same measurables, it doesn't end with the same result. I think the staff would love to have a player like that. The way they have used Fant this year says they see value in it. However, if you do happen to find a back of that caliber (they're not out there right now), they want to be the feature piece, and that will not happen in this offense.
Tell me you wouldn't like to have a Jamal Lewis, Chuck Webb, Marshawn Lynch, Derrick Henry in this offense. We need to have both types of RBs to maximize this offenses potential....guys that are good in space when it is there, and guys that can MAKE space when it is not.
