Oak Ridge WR Higgins decommits from Tenn

Ahh Clemson just went to the championship game and had a great recruiting class. Dabo has done great at Clemson. The town itself may be small but it's 45 mins from Greenville and few hours from ATL.

You know you are a nothing town when the best thing you can say about it is "we're 45 minutes from Greenville" ha

You bowl me over with intelligence.....

Win some lose some chief. But you are making my point. "Wow, we stuck it to Ole Miss 2 years in a row!!" was not an extra bullet in the bragging belt prior to Freeze now was it?

To the point of this conversation - kids are finding Ole Miss and Clemson attractive right ALONG with the traditional guns we are used to knocking heads with.

It makes the job that much harder and perhaps puts greater light on the impressive job CBJ has done in this new normal.
My apologies. Misinterpreted it as you saying "get used to losing out to Clemson and OM".

Exactly right about changing landscape of recruiting wars. But this happens all the time. Oregon, Baylor, TCU were perennial door mats in the 80's-90's.

Why? I have been watching recruiting for at least 40 years. I do not know so much about Clemson, but Auburn, Ole Miss, and sometimes BAMA have been known to do some shady recruiting - and yes that includes $. I do not think it is a coincidence that we have lost out to Auburn so many times, at the last moment. We beat out Ole Miss, because we have so much more to offer, not because they are playing fair.

To act as if this is not the case sometimes, is just being in denial.

Now, as for the current circumstances: I think Tee was visiting Clemson along with Hunter. Hunter committed to them, and he is probably pulling Tee and Rodgers. They are certainly the hot team right now...Is money involved? I have no idea...but it is not ludicrous to think it is a possibility...No reason to be in total denial that these things do happen.

I think it has to do with his ranking. Early commit guys suffer lower rankings from the sites. He wants to have the stars.

Actually 5.

George, Henderson, Johnson, Callaway, Williams.

You do have to wonder at some point does this play into a kids decision. Go into a program as a freshman and there are already 10-12 guys there ahead of you. No matter how good you are how many reps are you getting per game???

What is up with these guys? Any body actually visited Clemson, SC? Watch out for the cow piles!! I can't figure out what the sudden allure is for places like Clemson and Ole Miss.
Sudden allure, really? Do you even watch CFB? No team in the country has been on the rise like Clemson, the last few years. If not for the blown defensive assignments in the NCG, they beat Bama going away.

I'd think depth charts are always part of a kids decision or at least it should be. The best of the best probably pays less attention to it but the fact is a kid coming into a program loaded with any talent who has a year or more in the system holds a huge advantage over the newcomer.

5WRs in a class is a huge number.

From another thread - Summary: We gonna be ok

A few random football recruiting statistics/facts:

-The last 3 UT recruiting classes (2014-2016, Butch Jones' first 3 full recruiting classes) have signed a combined total of 46 prospects rated as 5* prospects and/or 4* prospects. That total is the highest number UT has signed in a 3-year period in school history (Rivals.com began rating football prospects in 2002). The breakdown is: 11 total (1-5* & 10-4*) signed in 2016 class, 17 total (4-5* & 13-4*) signed in 2015 class, & 18 total (2-5* & 16-4*) signed in 2014 class.

-Using those same statistics comparatively, Tennessee has signed the 4th most combined 4* prospects & 5* prospects in the nation during the last 3 signing classes (2014-2016). A more detailed breakdown looks like:

Total 5* & 4* prospects signed from 2014-2016 (by school):
1) Alabama: 53
2) Florida State: 50
3) Ohio State: 47
4) Tennessee: 46
This pretty much puts things in perspective. We are in good hands recruiting wise. TY for posting this.

Do you remember Ronald Davis? Trust me. UT did shady things too. If you don't think so, you need to get your head out of the sand. It is accepted in this region. Out west it is a little different. Big 12 is just as bad as the SEC.

Yep. Totally agree with you.

Every program we lose a recruit to is dirty... we, of course, are not. That's just how it is.

Not sure about Clemson but ole miss gets the best players that money or a new car or jobs for family members can get

Show some concern equates to sky is falling. VN at its finest.

Not really. They can win eight with him. This team is Watson and without him they will sink back to good but not great.

Johnson is not the athlete that Watson is. But I think as a pure passer, Hunter may end up being better. Neither one of us knows for sure.
