Obama campaign tries to wash its hands of the Romney/Cancer Ad

Absolutely. But, as of yet, there have been no Romney ads claiming that Obama is responsible for a woman's death.

The Obama ad about Soptic's wife has reached lower than any political ad I have ever saw. The majority of political ads from boths parties distort or strech the truth. This ad went well beyond that.

With 3 months to go , this is only the beginning. It is going to be a nasty campaign.

The only thing that ever came close is LBJ's "Daisy Ad". I actually think this is worse than that since it doesn't simply suggest that something bad will happen if Romney is elected, it claims he is directly responsible for a woman's death.

The Bush attacks against McCain were bad. They were the worst I can remember until this Soptic ad.

In the 2000 South Carolina Bush groups destroyed McCain.

McCain wife was said to be a drug addict.

McCain was accused of being a homosexual while Bush was saying his administration would not hire any homsexuals.

McCain was accused of having illegitimate children .
The McCains adopted a girl from Bangladesh. It was said that she was actually black and McCain was her father.

McCain was said to be a traitor and mentally unstable from his days as a POW.

Naturally Bush claimed that he had no part in the attacks.

Yep - the SC Bush/McCain stuff was definitely shameful.

Also shameful was the ad that suggested W endorsed the brutal death of that guy in Texas who was drug behind a car.

The Soptic ad is right up there. Especially ironic since this is exactly what Obama said he was not.

Yes sir, that ad ran for a while IIRC. It was a disgrace.

I think the McCain attacks were the ones that had the largest impact. McCain had just won the NH primary going into SC with a wind behind him and bam, he got destroyed. Those attacks worked.

Ah the joys of living in a state that has absolutely no bearing at all in the primaries at the time (Indiana) I never saw those ads, and my work at the time didn't allow for much tv/radio with the odd shifts I worked.

With Axelrod and the Chicago Machine under Obama's wings, I have a sick feeling we haven't seen the worst yet. Especially with their work on Herman Cain, I'm sure they feel emboldened so it's going to get much worse.

I'm not saying Romney is pure as the driven snow at this at all, but they have reached such low levels that even completely sleazy will look virtuous by this point.

Burton Defends Cancer Ad: "Not One Fact In That Ad That's Wrong" | RealClearPolitics

There's not one fact in that ad that is wrong. I would challenge you to find one. All the facts in that ad are absolutely accurate. When that company went bankrupt, Mitt Romney was the Chairman, CEO, and sole shareholder of Bain. And yeah, I think most Americans would agree that you own the responsibility for what your company is doing if you're the CEO.

There were real-life consequences when all these people lost their jobs, when their health insurance got canceled, when they lost their pension benefits. And some of these stories are really sad, but that doesn't mean that they should be off-limits. This is a race about very big things; about what direction our country is going to go in. And so we thought... Ok, Mitt Romney wants to make his business experience the center of his campaign, we are happy to take him up on that.

wow. I'm not sure he said anything that's correct.

Sole shareholder, of a private equity group, started out of a consulting shop? Wow.

Burton evidently using a different definition for the word "fact" than everyone else.

It must on the same lines as " it depends on what your definition of is is"

It turns out that the CEO of Bain when the man lost his job due to the closing of his company is now one of Obama's chief fund raiser bundlers from the financial sector.

Be careful when making bombs that they don't go off in your own hand.

Maybe it is Obama's people who don't care about the little people.

Obama = sleaze at it's worst.

Eh, Obama is child's play when it comes to sleaziest politicians.
