Obama gets religion.

So OE whats your beef with the CC? You say its Legalism, but its not the day to day rules that bother you. So which is it? A) your grandma from Sicily was excommunicated? B)You dont like the bureaucracy (Pope, cardinals, bishops, priests, deacons, nuns) C) the extravagance/pomp of the vatican D) the way donations are handled? E) Science and the church? F) who mass is structured (which was designed off how the last supper would have been like, intro, song, OT reading, song, NT story, homily, song, breaking of bread) G) All of the above (minus A)

Mods here on VN say attack the post, not the poster, but in this thread, you have insulted my intelligence, called me a clown, and arrogant (which you mistook for confidence) All very christian like.

So what things do you disagree with so much? Is it...

1) Nicene/Apostles Creed

2)Baptism

3)Holy Communion (Baptist love bible verses, but never mention one of the most important issues in the NT, the Last Supper where Jesus said THIS is my Body, THIS is my Blood, do THIS in memory of me. Not this is like my body and do this when its Christmas time

4)Confession (Baptist love there 700 Club, AM preachers, and eat up quotes from Tebow like breakfast, but you cant have a serious private conversation with another christian about your own sins. You seriously believe nothing would be gained from that?)

5)Eventual Assumption of both body and soul

6)Days of Obligation, Mortal vs Venial Sins, Virtues

I respect your whole view of Freedoms and I agree the cc could work on that, but I also view that communities are just as important

#3, for simplicity, is wrong. Transubstantiation is a pagan teaching. The scripture was not written in english, it was translated into english. Jesus would've been commanding cannibalism, which is a sin.

Yea bamacheats, the gospels got the single most important night of Jesus' life wrong

They also got quotes wrong saying pretty much the same thing weeks before his death. Whatever fits your agenda

The gospels didn't get it wrong, the Catholic Church did. The Law was specific on the use of blood, it was not to be eaten, it was to be poured out. Jesus, as a Jew, was still bound by that Law at his last supper. That teaching is that Jesus commanded his followers to willfully break the Law. Not true.

Important to note, most bible scholars agree with the translation, "this means my blood." The Jerusalem Bible, which I think you're quoting also quotes Jesus as saying, "I'm the fruit of the vine.", and "I'm the light of the world." Were those magical transformations as well?

Shortly after Jesus passed the cup, he still referred to it as wine.

A joke to lighten the mood and to let Skins know I'm not just picking on the CC:

What is the difference between Catholics and Baptists?

1. Baptists do not recognize the infallibility of the Pope.
2. Baptists do not recognize the quasi-divinity of Mary.
3 Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor stores on Friday nights.

Disclosure: I am a former Baptist.

Baptists will eat their own and kick their head in on a side walk.......

Mammaw was from sicily? That is frackin awesome!

In short, the cc is a works based system.

Why so defensive, do you not laugh much?

Warning

You two are going to make GS mad. You both are getting off the thread title topic.
