Did anyone catch the interview? Here is a run down from CNN, and a poorly recorded video from youtube.

The thing that gets me is the term "deserve" as if another term is some benefit rather than a term of service.

I am certain that word was chosen quite purposefully in advance by the campaign team. Probably intended as a counter to the assertiveness of the Gingrich rhetoric of the last few months.

I agree, it was used deliberately, that is my problem with it. I think it feeds the entitlement mentality that is a huge problem in the country. "I haven't been successful, therefore I need another chance."

I would rather hear something along the lines of "The political atmosphere makes things take a lot longer today and it will take us more than 4 years to get this done."

I agree with this. Obama should and will get four more years to try to improve his legacy and hopefully right the ship. Now if only he could get some bipartisan help.

He could leave today and have quite a "legacy". I do not believe that this country can endure much more legacy building on his part.

What would bipartisan support have helped on? Increasing the deficit even more? What specific plans or ideas has he proposed that the Republicans prevented that you believe would have been beneficial?

yeah "improving his legacy" is so very important to the American people

He's a failure and it's time to move on

I can't even imagine the shape this country would be in if the Repubs had not gained control of the house.

This is the same Republican house that has voted to raise the debt limit, correct?

The Republicans are just as responsible for this mess as anybody.

LOL. He's saying he deserves reelection because he has been successful. So your entitlement mentality analogy is nonsense.

For real. Give me a break. Oh, what would we do without a Republican house?????

I hate seeing people act as though the Republicans are going to be the saviors of this country. They are just as bad as the Democrats in my eyes. I would even say Democrats and Republicans aren't two separate parties, but two wings of the same party.

We would still be in worse shape. No republican house or senate brought us Obamacare. Would have hated to see what would follow.

That depends on the definition of "successful"

Hey man, how you been?

Anywhosal, I wasn't saying he has been or hasn't. That's up to others. I was replying to the post that him saying he "deserves" another term is somehow reflecting an "entitlement mentality."

Since he thinks he deserves one because in his mind he thinks he is doing well, then by definition he is not saying he deserves it because he's "entitled."

Carry on.

I actually agree with LG on this one. Of course he thinks he's done well enough to merit a second term. What's he gonna say "I've been awful. But I genuinely believe I'll get it right if you give me a second term,"?

How do you know? What do Republicans have to show for their time in the house? I am not aware of any major legislation that they've saved us from.

Who is saying this though? Approval rating of Congress (both parties) is at record lows. No one thinks any of them are worth a damn. But anyone who thinks we are not somewhat better off with a split house and senate where they can't pass crap like obamacare is out of their minds.
