I've never had to look for a job for more than a few hours...Well obviously my current company thinks I deserved the pay increase I got compared to my previous employer
Any employment counselor will tell you that looking for a job is a full-time job. Why should I work 40 hours a week at a fast food chain, when I can let the government pay me the same amount while I look for job in my profession? I, myself, think that is rather logical. So did the unemployment center...by the way. I don't mean forever, I mean for awhile.
If I took the job at the fast food chain, I would question my intelligence. I did the right thing for me and my family at the time. I have yet to meet someone that was overjoyed by their job loss. I sure hope you are not in buisinesslol:.
Being in the oil biz for thirty years, I have survived many layoffs. It's funny how the surviving employees always justify an employees layoff. All of a sudden they were not such good employees. I think people do this to ease their concerns. They don't want to think that their company would lay-off a good employee, because that rocks their security.
Anyway, instead of the government supporting these slackers, let's send the money to poor Ahab in Iraq(which was my original debate here).
Signing off.....:hi:

Any system that pays you more to sit on your ass is a flawed system. I can't put it any more plainly than that.
plain, complicated or otherwise, it's immaterial in this instance. Personal responsibility and pride aren't near as important as the government's function to provide income for everyone without a gig, at the expense of those who do have one, own companies or somehow earn a living themselves. It's the European way.
Good for you. You keep thinking that people that are unemployed somehow deserve it. I guess it makes you feel more comfort that it couldn't happen to you:cray:
People that are unemployed for an extended period of time do not deserve any handouts that have been stolen from those who are employed.
If someone can cross our southern border, come into our country without even being able to speak the language, and get a paying job, they there is no excuse for any American to not be able to find a job. Maybe it's not a nice cushy job in their area of training, but by golly, they can get a job doing something.
And be forewarned, I speak from personal experience here.
Instead, we have our government stiffling any potential national prosperity by stealing assets from those who historically have been able to create the sort of high paying jobs that we need through their capital investments, and giving handouts to those who prefer to sit on their rear, make excuses and wait for someone else to solve their situation for them.
But not many Dumb people get through a 4 year college like UT. Unless you think UT is a worthless institution.
