Obama wants us to be like Lincoln

You want to talk racism? Good! You can be the first to defend your boy, Lil' Hussein. None of the other Obamasheep on here can seem to muster a defense for his administration's blatant racism.

Please do tell where I said I was an "Obamasheep" as you put it. Did I say anywhere what I was? Liberal, Conservative, Independent? No. OK then. And I love how you didn't refute that it has racist undertones. You just basically said, "If he's doing it, it's ok for me to do it!"

Tough sh*t! Obama is at liberty to change his name if, he or his supporters find his current given name offensive.

Wow. And you guys think the Republican party should move more in YOUR direction? If so, the GOP will be lucky to win five states next time around.

The reason the Republican party has lost its way is not because of moderates - it's because of people like you who parrot everything you hear from idiots like Hannity and Levin.

no, it means that we should go to a theater and get shot in the head.

Trivia question: Name two people that were shot in the head at a theater?

Answer: Lincoln and the person sitting in front of Pee Wee Herman the night he was arrested. (Got to be over 40 to understand).

Then, you, Rush, Hannity, and all the others would say that Obama is running from his Muslim heritage.

It's a lose lose situation with folks like you.

One thing I find comically ironic is that Obama is so vehemently opposed to things such as the Patriot Act but the man that he styles himself after (Lincoln) suspended the writ of habeas corpus and shut down newspapers that opposed him.

funny i was sayin the same thing, booth shot lincoln because he was attempting to throw the north off balance and try to give the south a chance to "re-organize" that and he wanted the fame, i mean JWB was a huge celebrity in his time and he wanted the fame and glory,,, hence his elaborate speech "sic siemper tyrannus"

For the record, Lincoln did not die for black civil rights. Booth actually made the decision to kill Lincoln the day of the assassination, when he heard that Lincoln would be attending a play at Ford's Theatre. Booth's decision to assassinate Lincoln was not influenced by any statements of Lincoln's in support of black rights.

You are completely and utterly wrong, the original design was to kidnap and ransom, the choice to kill Lincoln came after his inaugeration speech which was laid out to give blacks the right to vote. This pushed Booth over the line. Read Booth's diary........ not my words, his!

For consideration:

Many Lincoln researchers do acknowledge what would, today, be considered "racist" overtones in Lincoln's early political life. On Oct. 13, 1858, during his famed debates with Judge Stephen A. Douglas, Lincoln spoke to what he considered to be basic black and white racial differences "which, in my [Lincoln's] judgment, will probably forever forbid their [blacks] living together on the footing of perfect equality."

In the same speech, Lincoln states, "I agree with Judge Douglas that he [a black] is not my equal in many respects, certainly not in color — perhaps not in intellectual and moral endowments; but in the right to eat the bread without leave of anybody else which his own hand earns, he is my equal and the equal of Judge Douglas, and the equal of every other man." In this statement, despite his reference to differences in "intellectual and moral endowments," Lincoln shows his belief that both black and white were entitled to equal rights and protection under the Constitution. (Source: The Founder's Library - Lincoln-Douglas Debates)

One paragraph?

You can surely do better than that to paint the man as an utter racist.

I'm reading Sandburg's biography of Lincoln. We all know of Lincoln's greatness, but Sandburg really brings it to life---I believe he won a Pulitzer for it.

You can't help but stand in awe of how well-read, wise, and complex Lincoln was. It doesn't seem likely that any other man could have led us out of that war---similar to Churchill.

100% agree!

Re-organize?

That was never even discussed, the original goal was to kidnap and ransom.

In the end, it came down to blacks rights.

It has no racist undertones. It's the man's damn name.

BTW, I noticed you, and all the others who are quick to throw out the race card. All are still avoiding the thread on Lil' Hussein's blatant racism.

You certainly whiffed that one. I never listen to either....EVER. Rush either for that matter.

I'm sure they are better than the liberal morons like Olbermann.

See the post above in reference to your Rush/Hannity comments.

Obama does run from his Muslim heritage. You can't see that, because you are such a good little blind Obamasheep.

Except for that tiny little fact that Obama isn't a Muslim, and even if he was, who really cares?

I'm not avoiding your lame attempt to justify your hatred of someone because they have a name that is "foreign" to you. It's just irrelevant to me because I don't really care about politics all that much especially arguing about them over the Internet. No one is going to change anyone's political opinions through web argument and I don't have a big enough ego to think I've "won" when I've out argued someone I'll never actually meet. What I'm trying to do is help you realize that what you're doing by calling him Hussein is detrimental(sp) to your cause. You keep saying Hussein is his name. Of course. It's his middle name. Most people go by their first or last name unless they mention otherwise. Last time I checked, Barack Obama has never asked anyone to call him by his middle name. So while you have the right to disagree with him politically and voice your opinion, you should still take the high road for you and your party's own good and respectfully call the man by what he actually goes by. It's really not that hard to have some common decency to people you disagree with. This could also apply to all of the Liberals and Independents who use name calling and such as a crutch, but seeing as how this is one of the first politics threads I saw and this is probably more of a conservative board I figured I'd start there. :peace:

Keyword here: HERITAGE. Webster's is your friend.

I have nothing against Obama's name. I despise the fact that he is a narcissistic, racist, megalomaniac who wants to take this nation into Socialism.

His cockeyed policies are nothing short of idiotic. He is wholly unqualified to be POTUS.

With all do respect, you're wrong. Booth was determined to kill Lincoln once Lee surrendered. Lincoln's stated support for black male suffrage was only a contributing factor.
