Obama wants us to be like Lincoln

I have nothing against Obama's name.
Sweet. We've made a little progress here.

I despise the fact that he is a narcissist
Most people that run for higher office are full of themselves regardless of policy. Hell, I really love myself right now. I'd hate to see how much I'd love myself if I got as many votes as the Presidents do.

Kind of hard to be racist when he's got just about everything in him, eh?

megalomaniac
See narcissism

He is wholly unqualified to be POTUS.
Not many people really are. And a lot of the people who are don't even run so that's inconsequential. You can't honestly sit there and tell me we were going to be a lot better off with Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Rudy Guiliani etc....

1. No, he's still Lil' Hussein.

2. His racism is well documented. Twenty years of listening to Jeremiah Wright's venom. His statements made in his books. Throwing the grandmother that raised him under the bus to save Wright. Lil' Hussein is a racist POS.

3. Better off with someone else? I guess that depends if you work and pay taxes, or if you are a freeloader. The freeloaders seem to love Lil' Hussein.

Nope, grow thick skin and enjoy!

:hi:

It's not that I don't have thick skin at all. I know what I believe in and I'm perfectly fine with that. I guess it's just that I realize in most places, especially Internet communities, political banter always just seems to come to degradation instead of genuine, thoughtful discussion.

so you're rational and everyone else here is looney? That's the way to garner credibility.

I'm rational in that I always listen to people and disagree with them on their opinions without having to resort to name calling and disrespect. Yes. Is it really that hard to make a political point without saying Hussein or something like "Bush is a retard?" IDK, maybe it's just me.

I though you were responding to my comment, which had nothing incendiary in it. I wasn't aware you were responding to SOJ. Disregard.

It will help if you'll simply quote who you're responding to.

I mean political boards in general. This is only one of two forums I post in and the other doesn't allow political discussion so I'm just kind of taking out my whole political frustration right here. Also, I've been here longer than just 17 posts. Lurking can be fun ya know. :)

Well, run your rational self to this thread, and defend Lil' Hussein. Rationalize his racism.

No commitment issues here friend. I've got 4,000 posts on my other forum. :groupwave:
WOW, 4000 posts? Sorry but, we are fresh out of big gold stars.

The "he can't be racist because he's everything" comment was said tongue in cheek. I've already stated that. And since your so opposed to Obama and his appointees, how about you just be the better person and quit trying to justify your disrespect because your opposition is doing it. That's my point. I'm not trying to defend Obama per say. Once again that's not my point, and you're assuming I'm a liberal when I'm not. :boxing2:

Ahhh, Internet tough guy, eh? Too bad I wasn't even talking to you when I typed that.
But you just keep trying to make yourself feel all big and bad. :whatever:

100% agree!

:)

If you view Lincoln (mainly in his early years) through a 21st Century lens then he was a racist. However, it would have been political suicide for him to not say some of the things he said about blacks.

He also, at least at one point wanted to colonize blacks back to Africa.

You can also see how he grows in this regard from the beginning of his career until his death.

Do you view that as racist?

Not really honestly. It's also hard to say what is racist (when viewing some things Lincoln said) when just about everything these days is spun into calling one racist.

In today's world is Lincoln a racist? Yes.

Was he racist for his time period? No.

I don't have the answer, but one has to think some of his comments on race were more political than his personal views.

In the 1860s he would have lost had he been painted as a man who wanted to free the blacks etc so I think it's safe to assume some things he said were calculated.

And if I'm not mistaken he wasn't even on the ballot in The South.

Abe is my favorite president and do I view him as a racist? No.

he was not, which is another major factor in the push for secession
