Businesses are required to have restrooms. That's legislation. What is the difference?

Plus it promotes breastfeeding by making it more accessible. The fact that breastfeeding contributes to a healthier, smarter child is not a debatable one.

Bathrooms benefit the entire workforce, not just a minuscule amount.

All of my kids were bottle fed and they are just as intelligent as any other child, so that is debatable. Healthier, that still can be debated. Nothing adverse came from bottle feeding our kids.

No, it's not debatable. There is tons of medical evidence that proves it. Ask any pediatrician or GYN.

The amount of mothers breastfeeding is not a minuscule one. I can name off the top of my head around a dozen mothers that I know of right now that are breastfeeding.

Besides, the logic that just because it doesn't benefit everyone it isn't necessary is a ridiculous one. It doesn't even deserve a response.

it's not ridiculous. Forcing businesses to retrofit their offices for a room that will rarely be used will be expensive in a tough time. It's crap that the gov't thinks this is their responsibility

From the article:

"If people took every study ever done on the subject to heart, then breast milk might be that superhuman food. "

"They didn't get any fewer colds than the other children at school, and I don't think they remember it and feel any closer to me because of it," she said. "

"Indeed, the breast-feeding numbers may be lower than most people think. About 56 percent of mothers are breast-feeding their babies three days after delivery, according to Dr. Miriam Labbok, a physician, professor and director for the Carolina Global breast-feeding Institute. "

"Even the author of a recent breast-feeding and cardiovascular risk factors study conceded that the health benefits from breast-feeding can be overblown by the time they reach mother's ears, if moms are listening at all. "

then feel free to a) stay home with the kid or b) pump in hte bathroom. there is some evidence breastfeeding is superior, but it's hardly conclusive AND it is a personal choice. just like having children. i'm currently in an office of about 200 people and i can only think of one person who might need this service. in a couple of months she wont. we need a space set aside thta will be used a couple of months a year or never?

This is the stuff where we know for sure that the Chief is worried about job creation.

You can love the plan, but there is no possible way that this is anything but net negative for jobs, period.

As long as they make room for those masturbation rooms as well, I'm sure people will be fine with the breast feeding ones. That way, when you see the new office hottie, instead of sexually harassing her, you just go rub one out and all is well. Would be a plus, IMO. :cool2:

this is the only way the gov't mandated restrooms argument makes any sense at all.
