Papa John's Pizza To Raise Prices Because Of Obamacare, CEO John Schnatter Says

I know alot of people don't get this but Obamacare is going to cause price spikes all over the place.

14 cents may not sound like alot but if every item you buy ends up taking a 10 to 15 cents spike suddenly this free health care just got alot more costly.

I would also like to state that places that cannot raise taxes (I used franchises that agree to prices fixes before as an example) will have no other option than to fix or lower payroll to offset the cost.

Hooray Obamacare!

Ugh, ten cent price increases at McDonald's and Papa John's.

Be sure to let me know when this affects Jamba Juice and Pinkberry.

Where it is really going to hurt is in the true middle class, those with incomes above the so called poverty line but well below wealthy. When their insurance contribution goes from $100 or so a month to $300 household cuts will have to be made.

Or their employers decide to drop health insurance altogether and dump them on the government roles.

Mine's already almost $300/month (for full family)

There will be many who decide they can get by with 49 employees instead of 50+ so the company isn't penalized for droping insurance.

Sigh.

No employer will have to buy insurance because of the ACA. No employer who otherwise would offer insurance now has a reason not to because of the ACA.

If I was in that type of business, it'd be a great time to increase prices and blame it on Obama, regardless if it's the reason or not.

good idea

Wrong as usual. aca factors in hous worked for part time employees. Two twenty hour workers equals one full time. That means health care fore both or one two grand fine. This means if u have one hundred part timers you would fall over the fifty employee rule.

So, people here are angry that the cost of pizza is going up so that every American can have health care... but no one's saying a word about Schnatter passing his bill on to the consumer?

Economics 101, buisness is there to MAKE MONEY for the share holder. Costs go up, prices go up. Prices go up people eat less pizza, less pizza produced less people needed to produce/deliver pizza.

Less people working, WHO PAYS for the health care?

Yea, because economics is the sole factor I want dictating the health of my fellow citizen.

It's an example - the cost of everything will go up. It has to.

You're free to ignore the economics of the situation but they are still there.

Adding HC coverage - especially full-blown coverage as in ACA - for 20-40 million people will absolutely raise costs and you can't tax the rich enough to pay for even a fraction.

of course it does but that wasn't in Obama's press release so it had to be experienced to be believed. Wonder what an increase of prices across the board will do to the sacred middle-class?

surely you're not expecting care to improve for the average American? I understand believing some of the crap handed out, such as the borderline retarded idea of tax neutrality, but buying that individual care will get better just baffles me.

people here are angry that there is now a new mechanism for massively increasing gov't bureaucracy, handing out more gov't largess for votes and reducing the quality of our healthcare. Otherwise, I think it's a great idea.

I will gladly pay $0.14 cents more for my occasional pizza, knowing that the people who work there and their families have health insurance.

BTW, this a complete and total BS cop out by PJs.

The cost of food is skyrocketing for Papa Johns right now. Cheese has nearly doubled in 2 years. Anything related to cow is sky rocketing right now because of the drought.

Blame that on Obama!
