Please don't call it a movement. It really isn't.
You have the right to think what you want. So does the guy who predicted the world coming to an end this year.
You both are completely wrong though. I can't imagine someone comparing the Occupy Wallstreet "movement", and I say movement very loosely, to the friggin Civil Rights Movement. Unbelievable.
Some people need to take a big step back from their computer before they hit submit.
It most definitely fits the definition of "social movement".
Social movements are a type of group action. They are large informal groupings of individuals and/or organizations focused on specific political or social issues, in other words, on carrying out, resisting or undoing a social change.
Does that mean it will be effective? No.
That Georgia Tech education worked wonders for you, eh?
It's refreshing to see people organize to fight something they don't agree with. It's what America is all about.
The sad thing is that it goes all the way to the very fabric that weaves our country today, and it's not changing anytime soon.
It's never a good thing for the government to become involved and run the process of a competitive market in the ground.
But there are so many things going on in the background that we don't have access to, so I can't give a completely educated guess as to what truly needs to happen.
There are studies out there that during the Clinton era, America could have continued to find themselves completely debt free (with keeping what were the standard practices at that time), but in doing that would completely destroy the use of T-Bills around the world and ultimately destroy the rest of the world's economic balance.
I really don't agree with such violent actions from law enforcement, but they have orders too so it goes well above their heads.
Okay, so they are pissed about unemployment. They need to be talking to our president then, right? Ask Apple why they are sitting on BILLIONS of dollars of cash right now and get back to me.
They are. Just because it got the name Occupy Wall Street, does not mean the movement isn't much larger than just having issues with Wall Street. There are also many issues with the way the government operates as well. And the way large corporations influence government decisions and elections.
