Offical Vince Young thread

Actually, Leinart showed more promise as a passer than Young, but the press gave Young all of the credit for every Titans victory despite the fact that the majority of the load was actually shouldered by Travis Henry.

Henry was great and a huge part of the Titans last season, but in the 4th quarter and when a play needed to be made Vince was always successful.

Most would disagree with you.

No. Let me be the first one to break this to you. Most people DO agree with me.

ESPN.com: SPORTSNATION - Grades: NFL Draft

Note that the consensus 2007 Draft Grade for the Titans was the 3rd lowest in the entire NFL. This is exactly what I was talking about when I was saying earlier that Titans fans seem to have blinders on when it comes to their team.

You've dodged this question before, and I understand why, but I'll ask again. Why didn't Travis Henry shoulder any of the load in 2005 as the Titans won only 4 games?

I think the broken leg he suffered in 2004 might still have been hampering him. The inconsistency of the QB position didn't exactly help out the running game, either.

McNair actually played in 14 games in 2005.

I'm not going to deny Henry was a big part of the Titans' season in 2006, but I'm just curious why he didn't play a bigger role in 2005 as well.

I feel I've been fairly reasonable about Young and Henry, although you won't see Vol423 mention that as it wouldn't go along with his "All Titans fans have Young in the hall of fame" stuff that he constantly spews without apparently even reading all posts made by Titans fans.

VY got praise because he was doing exactly what he was doing at Texas in 2004.

VY may not be as good as Lienart or Cutler, but he most certainly could be. As much as Vol423 hates it, the Titans won't suck forever. They are incredibly young.

Didn't they have one of the best the year before? The one year wont make the franchise fail.

All of that may be true, but saying that Vince will be one of the top 3 QBs in the league within three years is insane. That's just getting way ahead of yourself. I realize of course, you haven't said this. However, that claim is the only reason I even started posting in this thread.

Yes, and it's funny that I don't recall one instance in which I've claimed that the Titans will suck forever.

Vince Young certainly won't be one of the top 3 QB's in 3-5 years. I think he could be like Steve McNair and have success later in his career.

I wasn't really impressed with last year's draft. I still think Lendale White can't cut it in the NFL. Then there's Vince and Courtland Finnegan. I don't see any big hoopla over the rest of the picks.

I didn't say you said they would suck forever. I just said you would hate it when they don't. Its pretty clear that you will.

But if I remember right they got a good grade... That post was more directed to Vol423 and his Titans draft grade post.

That's because a lot of buffoons thought they got a steal in Lendale White. Some geniuses wanted to claim he was the best RB in that draft. Honestly, if Vince Young doesn't turn out to be high quality, that will go down as a pretty awful draft.

So pretty much, the only way to tell if a draft is good is after they players start playing. Not 2 months after.

Yes. However, given the other players that were available when the Titans made their picks, I think I would have gone in another direction most of the time. When a high priority for you is running back, for example, I wouldn't draft a guy that had 800 career yards in college.

I can agree with that. I'm still wondering what he was thinking. Seemed like a failed way to motivate LenDale.
