Official 2014 Summer Baseball Thread

Eric Martin came on in the 8th inning last night, he struck out the first two batters he faced. Then he gave up a walk and a two out, RBI double.

1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO, ERA 4.50

Fantastic outing for Bret Marks! Had a shutout going through 7 innings...

108 pitches, 72 S, 36 B

7.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 10 SO

Until the 8th inning he was only really in trouble in the 5th, a one out walk followed by a HBP, but he got out of it. His best outing of the summer, maybe the best outing by a Vol pitcher this summer!

VJax had his best outing of the summer as well at the plate.

5 AB, 3 H, 1 RBI

AJ was 1-3

Y-D lost 13-2

Johnny Youngblood went 1-4 today and Marks' great outing does not get wasted as the Bucs win 3-1 in 11 innings.

There had been some speculation about it, but I don't think the Milligan connection had been made yet. Thanks.

Team USA is off today.

Kyle Serrano got the start last night for Matsu and pitched 3 innings of no hit ball before losing it in the fourth. Neither Rodgers or Senzel played in the game.

Final line: 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 SO

The Vols really need Serrano to be a weekend guy but you cannot depend on a pitcher who averages a walk per inning (9 per game) and is 2-0, 3-1 on every hitter. The best "stuff" on the staff but he needs to hurry up and figure this out.

Team USA won this morning, led by Christin Stewart's 2 doubles.

Offensively, Nick Banks (Texas A&M) paced the Team USA with a pair of RBI singles while Christin Stewart (Tennessee) recorded the squad's first two extra-base hits during Honkbal Week with two doubles and Alex Bregman (LSU) added a 2-for-3 effort with a pair of stolen bases.

4 AB, 2 H, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SO...He is batting .357 which leads the team.

Andrew Lee is getting the start at 1B, batting 6th, for Brewster...

Jackson (LF) and Simcox (SS) batting 6th and 8th respectively for Y-D...

A. Plunkett went 2-4 today and his BA is up to .264, his highest of the summer. F. Bramlett went 0-2 and is batting .229.

Riverhead lost today 4-0.

Andrew Lee got to the plate twice today. He singled in his first at bat and had a sac hit RBI in his second appearance. 1AB, 1 H, 1 RBI...replaced in the 7th inning.

Marks improving would be monumental for our rotation

As I said earlier, Senzel hasn't played in a while. I took a look at the Miners roster and he's no longer on it. I suspect he's come home, if true, he finished with a BA of .190.

Rodgers goes 0-3..Tyler Stubblefield (A&M Frosh) threw a complete game, Miners win 5-1.

May have hit the "wall".......he's played a lot of baseball the last few months and possibly needs a break! Any way to confirm your thoughts?
