I recently read Mary Stewart's series about Merlin, it was good if you're in to the King Arthur lore.

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. Waiting on the 5th book to come out next year. There's gonna be an HBO series on it starting in January

Read the first two pretty quickly and stopped reading for awhile. Just started reading The Wastelands. Really enjoying the series so far.

You still reading Potter?

I blew through those books at a stupid pace. I can tend to be a bit of a compulsive reader when I get into a story.

I really enjoyed the Potter series. I was surprised how dark they got as the series progressed.

Worth reading?

On a side note of things disussed, is a kindle worth the cost? My wife thinks that long-term it'd be cheaper for me, but I just don't know.

I got the B&N version, the nook, and I really like it.

I blew through the Potter series in a hurry too. When I love a book/series, it doesn't last long.

You might want to try the trilogy that I mentioned above in a post, if Potter is something you like. It was a pleasant surprise, not being a highly touted series that is pushed into a movie.

Thanks, I'll do that.

Have you read the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin? (forgive me if you mentioned it earlier)

I believe you would like it.

I'm a huge sci-fi/fantasy reader. Just finished a trilogy by Russell Kirkpatrick named "Fire of Heaven." Very well written. You can tell he modeled it after Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings", with it's strong references to fictitious geography. Worth the read if that's down your alley.

Have you read the wheel of time?

When does the series start on HBO?

Also, I wonder how they will end it, seeing as how Martin can't seem to get around to writing the next damned book.

Began reading The Lord of the Rings series. Started with The Hobbit about a month back and I'm half-way through The Two Towers right now. Can't believe I waited so long to start this series. I am loving it.

purchased tucker max's 'aholes finish first' today. his stuff is always good reading.

I've read IHTSBIH, also.

Now reading, God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens.

The last book I read was Meat Market by Bruce Feldman. He gives you a front row pass into the world of recruiting under Ed Orgeron while he was at Ole Miss. It was an awesome read and I suggest it to anyone who is into recruiting like myself.

Alas! Completed the Lord of the Rings series! It was a beautiful ride, one that I am sure plenty of you have taken part in before as well. Now all I want is a fancy collectors edition to please the nerd in me.

So, Lord of the Rings got me into the fantasy series. Not quite sure what I am getting into here, but I ordered Way of the Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It was released in August of this year and has received high praise thus far from critics and reviewers. It's the first book in an expected 10-book series and it certainly fits the bill as an 'epic' with a whopping 1,000 pages. Has anyone read or heard of this book?

However I am currently reading a book on Bhuddist text, meditation, and the like. It is definitely a book written for the Western mind. Good reading thus far ; simple yet suprisingly thought-provoking. Titled Training the Mind by Chogyam Trungpa
