How would this agreement affect them leaving the EU? What’s wrong with keeping the border agreement the same?

The current border allows stemless movement back and forth for goods and people. Both sides are in EU customs union so there's no problem.

And why would it be a problem otherwise? Just like here with Mexico and Canada?
 
We don't have people freely going back and forth between the US and Canada every day.

You mean the border between the US and Canada isn't like the border between France and Italy? I suppose that's true, because the border between France and Italy is like the border between Tennessee and Georgia, but basically people move back and forth freely across it.

Other than showing my passport I've never been unable to move back and forth with ease.
 
They could easily make that arrangement between Ireland and N Ireland...

I guess May should hire you as an advisor, because the Irish border seems to be the problem that has sunk her negotiated deal in parliament.

Bungle that, and it's possible the UK could lose Northern Ireland entirely.

No way in hell this should hold up exiting the EU for 2 years...
