Let make this simple, can you show me a SEC team with a RPI north of 60 and SOS north of 70 that has ever gotten in...

Not really...committee puts a lot into RPI and SOS...Florida and Vandy were both close, Florida struggled down the stretch while Vandy was better...result=Vandy getting into the last 4 in group and Florida being left out.

Wasn't florida better in both rpi and sos.

A 9-9 SEC team isn't getting in, simple as that...11-7 is about the cutoff, Vandy had 2 games on Florida in league play, a RPI about 5 away...with Bama/UT you're talking a 1 game difference and a RPI about 17 spots difference.

If the RPI is 17 spots difference I agree with you. My fear is Tenn is 18-13(10-8) with an RPI of 48-52 and Bama is 19-11(12-6) with an RPI of 58-62. I think Bama gets the nod in that case.

Tennessee: 18-13(10-8) RPI:48 SOS:14
Alabama: 19-11(12-6) RPI: 61 SOS: 72

Yea, I don't see them getting the nod because of 1 more conference win. Honestly at that point if Bama was getting in it'll be at someone else's expense, that would be an all time snub with the numbers Tennessee will have.

Wish it could stay where it is now.

Where do you see the projected SOS numbers at?

Unfortunately it won't, but it's still projected to be damn near 60 spots better than Bama...

OOC SOS for UT: 12
OOC SOS for Bama: 84

They're available on teamrankings and rpiforecast I believe

It would be 2 more conference wins. Also I am seeing 58 for Bama SOS projection.
I think you are looking at OOC only which is 70. Overall it's 50 right now.

And a 6 SOS projection for the Vols.

Your post projected them at 10-8 in the league which we all know gives them zero shot.

Even at 12-6 their SOS numbers remain the same, projected RPI at 19-11(12-6) is 62, SOS of 72...so again, can you name me a SEC team to ever get in with those numbers?

You're literally saying you expect the NCAA to take the worst SEC team they've ever taken resume wise and by doing so leaving out the best SEC team they've ever left out resume wise...makes sense.

If your stance was, 19-11(12-6) Alabama has a chance to sneak in as the last team then you may have a case, a very small one, but something. However suggesting that they would get in over Tennessee who with that resume is likely a 9/10 seed is beyond foolish. If Bama gets in it's going to be over another play in type team, which if Tennessee finishes the season like that they won't be.

And I don't except the 72 number as I found one projection that said 58.

Not sure why we keep going back and forth. If bAma goes 12-6 they are in imo and there is evidence both for and against that thinking.

Leave it at that?

What evidence, that's what I'm asking for???

Ok...RPI north of 60 and SOS north of 58???

South Carolina was 23-8(11-7) had a RPI of 64 and a SOS of 73 and was left out last season

Your hypothetical Bama team...19-11(12-6) RPI of 62 and SOS of 72

So I guess leaving it at that isn't going to fly?

Like I said 12-6 teams don't get left out of the dance very much at all. I don't think it Bama would either.

I could be wrong and I could be right. I hope we don't find out.
