That's not what happens come March though, both of those things have to line up, that's what you seem to be missing. If +\- record > RPI then South Carolina would've gotten in last season.

Georgia went 12-6 a few years ago and went to the NIT fwiw...went 18-12(12-6), had a SOS of 70, Alabama's expected SOS...72.

A 9-9 SEC team isn't getting in, simple as that...11-7 is about the cutoff, Vandy had 2 games on Florida in league play, a RPI about 5 away...with Bama/UT you're talking a 1 game difference and a RPI about 17 spots difference.
