Official Duke/UNC 2016-17 Thread

I will say that I do not have a little brother syndrome towards Bama. Even though they lost to Clemson, they are still on a different planet. NC State does have passionate fans, but they are the ultimate little brother in the State of NC.

I disagree from a fan standpoint. Lived in Fayetteville for five years and would travel to either Charlotte, Greensboro or Wilmington every other weekend. Appy St, NCSU and even ECU were all more than doubly represented compared to Duke or Carolina. I've honestly never seen a Wake sticker for what it's worth

At first I didn't think anyone from the ACC had a realistic chance at a 1 seed, but looking at their schedule they kinda had it made this year. Only having to travel to Duke and UVA as their hardest road games? Very favorable schedule this year. Sorry AV, even you gotta admit the schedule is nice this year in terms of games against ranked teams!

The last 8 are pretty tough, and let's not act like as of now they're not clearly the best team though.

Justin Jackson showing that coming back and improving isn't so bad after all. Legit ACC player of the year candidate

Yeah, all games are tough, but that got a pretty good break on road games. Where as Duke plays FSU, UL, and ND all on the road UNC gets them at home. They're playing well, but I do wanna see them on the road against some tougher opponents. I wouldn't say they're clearly the best though by any means.

There is no clear best team in the ACC. It's a mess. Carolina has played exactly one ranked ACC team and won a close game at home.

Looks like by the end of the day we'll be saying GT is the best team in the league if UNC and FSU don't come back. In all honesty though, if not for their injuries UL could be the best. So hard to distinguish between UNC, UVA, FSU and UL as the best.

The Dukies look like they have no desire to wear Duke gear or enjoy the locker room luxuries

Luke Kennard might have just saved Duke's season. UNC, FSU and Notre Dame all go down today. Good day for Duke.

No, but they didn't lose today and probably saved their season. It's not over yet. It's still January and there is a lot of ball to be played.

This win was big for them. They showed a lot of fight down the stretch. Anyone notice that when Tatum fouled out when started doing a lot better? 19-10 run I think. If Grayson and Luke can play better defense when they're on the floor, those guys can become a real problem for teams, but for now their lack of defense is preventing that. Although Luke seemed like he gave a lot of effort on defense today and it showed late.

Once again, another game where Allen gets roughed up and Duke players just take it. I really wish one of the walkons or guys that don't get any minutes would've thrown Childress' off the Duke bench or shoved him or something.

I disagree. I thought once Allen got his tech for jawing back at the Wake player the team rallied together and fought hard. I haven't seen them play that hard all year. It was like in that moment they realized what the name on the front of jersey meant - that when you play for Duke just about everyone will be against you and you have to be one and fight for one another.

I was referring to when Allen got tangled up with Crawford by the Duke bench and Childress ran over threw Allen onto the bench.

I felt like the team showed the same fight the second half against Miami then lost it again. They need to find that team chemistry all the time to be consistently good. How many more games is K expected to miss? I think if anything, this is showing that Capel (thankfully) isn't the answer to replace K, although these same problems existed before K had his surgery.

I know, but they really can't do much. If another player besides Grayson does something slightly bad it'll create the narrative that Coach K has lost control of the team and that's the last thing the team needs. This team/program is under the media microscope. It's best if they just try to play hard on the court and focus on basketball. Before the replay yesterday the announcers were already trying to say Grayson did something bad before he got tackled.

Roy went 7 straight mins with Jackson and Berry on the bench together

Roy has to fix this. Both can't be off the floor at the same time, and he can't keep playing the whole second unit in the middle of each half. He has been subbing NBA style, but our bench can't compete for an extended period of time.
