Official Duke/UNC 2016-17 Thread

I haven't watched the games nearly as much this year as in years prior, due to my job situation mostly, but what I have seen of this team thus far, it's really fun to watch. This group is quickly becoming my favorite UNC squad since '06, partly because - as with that team - I didn't expect a whole lot out of them and partly because they're a scrappy bunch with a heart (something often lacking in Roy Williams' UNC teams).

Whatever the final outcome of this season, I'm going to enjoy what I can.

That UNC-Kentucky game from a few weeks back was an all-timer. Unfortunate it didn't go our way.

Let me know when the guys are attending class...a real one

Those guys are your featured players though - Pinson's the glue that keeps it all together and takes the team to the next level.

But he isn't our most important player though and that's the difference. It looks like Amile is for Duke.

Wasn't sure how the Fsu game was going to play out, but if this UNC team plays like they did yesterday, then they should win the best conference and be a number one seed.

I think this is going to be the craziest year of ACC basketball we've seen in a long time, maybe ever.

I think this is going to be the craziest year of ACC basketball we've seen in a long time, maybe ever.

Last year was the resurgence of the ACC; deep as I have seen it in a while. If I'm not mistaken, we almost had an all-ACC Final Four, or maybe it was almost three of the four (I can't remember, exactly).

This year is even deeper. I think this may be the best ACC we've seen, perhaps ever. We could very likely tie (or even beat) the Old Big East's 11 tourney team mark this year.

Although I like the way AV thinks, I believe it very unlikely that a number one seed emerges from the ACC this year. Only one tops, if so. I think we will beat the crap out of one another this year, weakening our records. Nonetheless, critics and pollsters and, most importantly, the committee, will all take note, and we will have many highly-seeded teams that will do a lot of damage in the tournament.

There are so many very good teams this year it's unreal. I mean Florida State will have played 6 straight ranked conference opponents to start league play, that's unheard of. And they've only lost 1, to UNC on the road. I think you're right, this is going to be a slugfest throughout the season and the ACC will have the most teams ever in the NCAA. Now I'm just ready for Duke to keep up their end of the bargain, which I still believe is very possible. UNC, FSU, DUKE, Notre Dame, Louisville, UVA are all real final 4 contenders IMO.

One seeds are gonna be either Gonzaga, UCLA, Kansas, Villanova, or UK.

I think it will be hard to keep whoever wins the toughest conference( unc or not) off of the 1 line.

Toughest conference is just speculation and just a thing the media talks about. Gonzaga, UK, and Villanova will lose at most 1 game. UCLA and Kansas maybe two. They have the easier schedules to be on top - as said above, the ACC will be too hard for anyone to make it out with a good enough resume to make a 1 seed.

Draymond Green committed another flagrant foul last night on Lebron. Where's the outrage, the around clock coverage? Oh that's Draymond being Draymond. Nothing to see here.

I will never understand how the Duke fan echo chamber anointed Jeff freaking Capel as K's future successor. He's terrible.

The whole Duke fan base just went from, "Capel can never be coach." To, "How about the balls on Capel to bench those guys in the second half." Idk what just happened.

I was at the game, great job by Capel with the lineup change to start the second half. Duke finally looked like Duke, Playing defense and contesting shots the way a team should. Really thought Bolden played well tonight.

Good to see Giles and Bolden being productive. Dennis Smith is nasty for State, kid can play some ball.
