Capel is awful. He over-substituted tonight and we ended up with the same 5 who just can't play well together. Allen, Kennard, and Tatum just cannot be on the floor at the same time. I was skeptical starting Frank, Matt, Tatum, Jefferson, and Bolden, but really, I think we can build off that. I would start Frank, Luke, Tatum, Jefferson, and Bolden - that's the best blend of scoring and defense. Allen, Giles, and Kennard came off the bench in the beginning and provided half the early points (14 of the first 28), that was great! Giles was on his way to having a coming out party and then all the sudden couldn't see the floor? Bolden was playing aggressive then all the sudden he couldn't get in? What the heck is up with that? At this point, I'm starting to feel bad for Grayson. He's losing money every game he plays, he doesn't look like he's having fun, and he's just a shell of himself. He missed so many wide open threes tonight and just has no confidence.

Allen has brought the criticism on himself, but the media (ESPN) has been overkill. Seth Greenberg saying that Allen should take the rest of the year off is absurd. The over analyzing is beyond ridiculous. Allen has tripped a person in 3 separate incidents over the past 15 months. The past 3 games he's been hit in the face 3 different times, it's open season on Allen in game and in the media.

That's what I was getting at. After the third tripping incident he deserved everything he got even if it was overkill then, but now it's just insane. I think in 4 out of the last 6 games he's been elbowed in the face. In the past few games he's had more done to him than he's done to others, it's like a team gets one free shot a game. That's why I'm starting to feel some empathy for him, he's not enjoying himself at all - whether it be low confidence in his game or trying to figure out where the elbow is gonna come from. At first he deserved it, but it's just out of control now.

That's why unless your role is about to increase dramatically and send your draft stock way up, if you're a first round pick, you should leave. People were saying Grayson wasn't "ready," and will probably say the same thing about Kennard, but in many ways that's irrelevant.

The thing with Kennard is that he's obviously ready, but he lacks the elite athleticism guys have in this draft and the NBA. This draft is so loaded that he's barely cracking the first round. The lowest I've seen him at is 25. He could stay for another year and a be a potential lottery pick next year. Grayson's draft status had chance to go up this year. It was always going to fall. Luke has a chance to atleast improve his if he decides to stay.

UNC's chances at a #1 seed just got a lot better and could get even better if UK loses again on Saturday. Someone's gotta beat FSU first though.

It's amazing how disconnected from sports you become when you work nights, like I do now.

I didn't have a clue any of these games were even taking place. Had to find out some days later.

I've become so disconnected, I hardly even watched the latter half of our Vols football season (although that also had something to do with being disillusioned). I'm not even sure I'll watch the Super Bowl for the first time ever. I was just not involved in the regular season at all.

I'm glad the Heels are doing very well. I was not expecting this kind of season thus far, so I'll be tickled just about no matter what, shy of losing to some crap team in the tournament.

Heels have Va. Tech, could be a decent game. Heels favored by 14. 3 games in 6 days for UNC, but the teams they play are terrible.

At first I didn't think anyone from the ACC had a realistic chance at a 1 seed, but looking at their schedule they kinda had it made this year. Only having to travel to Duke and UVA as their hardest road games? Very favorable schedule this year. Sorry AV, even you gotta admit the schedule is nice this year in terms of games against ranked teams!

According to a 247 article K has gone scorched Earth after Monday night. He had a players and coaches meeting at his home Tuesday night, ripped the team and is not allowing them to use their locker room or wear anything that has Duke on it until they have shown that they have earned the privilege to play at Duke. Very Pat Summit of him. I like to hear this.

I heard about this yesterday (I subscribe to the Duke boards there). Also sounds like some aren't too happy this got out.

I know Duke usually keeps stuff in house, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was intentionally leaked.

The team plays reckless. There's a lot more selfishness and carelessness than the typical K team. Hopefully this cleans things up a bit.

I know there's plenty of places on VolNation to discuss Tennessee football, but this post came back to my mind last night while watching the Carolina game.

How similar would you all say Tennessee football is to NCSU basketball?

For instance, as a UNC fan (and I'm sure most Duke fans feel the same), I don't even really consider NC State a rival. As the post above says, NCSU is considered a bottom feeder and when they do beat one of the blue bloods, it is a major shock.

It made me kind of ponder that UT football has become that in the eyes of many. Does Alabama consider us a rival? If we were to beat Alabama, would, for instance, an Ohio State fan remark, "It sure was nice to see a bottom feeder hand them their ass on their home field"?

Sorry Chuckie, but for all issues over the past 10-12 years or so we are not, and never will be NC State. Maybe Missippi State football or Ole Miss prior to Freeze. Basically for every positive step forward they take 3 back.

I tend to agree with you, but I know that there has been chatter, particularly before we beat UF this year, where folks have referenced that Alabama and Florida look at the Tennessee game much like we (UT Football) look at a Kentucky or (usually) Vandy game.

Again, was just curious to get thoughts from some others.

By the way, RIP Charles Shackleford. Older than me, but still way too young.

What little I've seen of this Tar Heel team this year, I'm fairly certain there's this one thing that's different.

I DVRed the FSU game in Chapel Hill a couple weeks ago. I can't stop watching the final 8 minutes of game play.

The reason why is that I've never seen a UNC team respond in that kind of way to a resurgent opponent.

At the 2 minute mark in particular, when the FSU player loses the ball out of bounds, and nearly the entire UNC team reacts as if they've just performed a complete beatdown on an opponent in an alley, particularly Pinson, I don't really have anything to analogize it to.

I think that Pinson is the key to this season. No matter how he plays. Just as long as he plays. He's the spiritual head, that's fairly certain.

I will say that I do not have a little brother syndrome towards Bama. Even though they lost to Clemson, they are still on a different planet. NC State does have passionate fans, but they are the ultimate little brother in the State of NC.
