Official Duke/UNC 2016-17 Thread

Say what you want about Roy, and guys sticking around, but the results have been there with these guys staying. Also improved as players as well.

It's always funny when UNC fans are critical of Duke and UK for the OAD's, yet recruit the same exact players. Jackson is the only top 15 player not in the pros yet and regardless of what you say it is effecting UNC recruiting. UNC isn't exactly putting players in the NBA the way they used to.

Scandal more than anything.

Looking back at the ranking on espn for his class, and it was absolutely loaded. He wasn't ready to be a one and done. Now a potential 1st rounder. He got better

The recruitment of Kevin Knox will be big if Roy can get him, but it's gonna be hard when all you have to point to is Harrison Barnes (2 years) and Jackson (3 years). If he wants to be a OAD then that'll be a hard get for Roy because Duke will point to Jabari, Winslow, Ingram, and now Tatum - Hood was at Duke two years but only played one so I won't throw him in there as a OAD. I will say though in regards to Jackson, I don't know if he had plans of being a OAD. Even though he wasn't ready until now, he may have just wanted to stay at UNC. Just like Grayson, he could've gone after his freshman and sophomore years but he didn't because he liked Duke and wanted to get his degree - Jackson may have wanted to do the same.

Nothing really changed but they got some more definitive info:

- Tatum and Giles are declaring and gone.
- Grayson and Luke are declaring and will get info: Grayson is 50/50. Luke is 70/30 leaving. Grayson will be back with a bad draft grade and there are unverified rumors that Luke is on the fence after the bad tournament performance.
- Frank, Javin, White, and Vrank are all 100% back.
- Jeter is probably transferring. 5% coming back.
- Bolden will probably declare and get feedback. If he comes back to college there's a 20-30% chance he's back at Duke, but does he want to transfer and sit out a year? That's the big question. If he wants to go to the NBA sooner than later it's probably best for him to stick out another year at Duke. Unverified rumors here that he is on the fence so chance he returns could be higher.

All the movement causes Duke to recruit more guys. They're in good shape with Trevon Duval and Kevin Knox (lead crystal ball picks for both). They'll probably start recruiting Blake Harris (PG) and Jordan Tucker (SG/SF) a little more. Tucker would immediately commit to Duke if given the chance. NC State will go hard at Harris. Duke probably needs to recruit Kennard and Bolden more than Harris and Tucker.

Seems like we'll need more true big man depth. Just have Carter, Vrank and maybe Bolden

I don't think we'll end up with Bolden. His chances of returning have been bumped down to about 1%. But I do think we end up with Vrank, Javin, Carter, and Knox. Im a big Vrank fan though.

You guys have had more 5 star transfers than we have guys that should have truly been one and done.

They only play one true big man anyways

Doesn't bother me. "Come to Duke; if you're in the rotation, we'll put you in the NBA, and even if you're not, we'll prepare you to be a star somewhere else."

@franfraschilla: Remember that since adoption of "one-and-done" rule in NBA's CBA 11 years ago, only 2 NCAA champs have had 1 on their team. '12 UK, '15 Duke
