Official Duke/UNC 2024/25 Thread (Final 4 or Bust for Both)

They had an inside presence then. This is the least "Tarheel-like" UNC team I've seen in the last 35+ years. Hubert's recruiting of big men has been horrible, and I think it will cost him.

Hubert just isn’t the guy. It was fun at times while it lasted but it’s time to move on. IMO,

I think this is Duke’s most complete team in years. More complete than the Zion/Barrett team for sure. They’re coming together very well as a unit. But it seems there’s lot of really good basketball teams this year, time will tell if this Duke team or any of the others becomes “special”

I agree. My favorite roster in terms of talent and fit in quite a while

Defensively, this Duke team is much better than that Zion/Barrett team .

After this Florida game,I'm starting to have my doubts. They're not getting it done against the top 25 and have to play catch up in almost every game. Lack of size is a big factor.

They are wildly inconsistent from behind the arc in the games I’ve watched

That’s really no excuse though they’ve never been anywhere close to consistent. It’s just not who they are.

Carolina is at its best when they have active bigs and a true PG that can push the offense.

Was just pointing it out. I’d never give “excuses” for UNC

It’s not like they’re losing to chump teams this season, but they’re getting killed on the glass, they’re not playing D consistently, and they can’t shoot consistently. I knew they’d piss away the game last night, which completely negates how well and hard they played to make it a game and take the lead. Florida had the ball, up two, with less than 30 seconds left. I knew it didn’t matter if they hit their shot to stretch the lead to 4-5, they’d just grab the rebound anyway.

UNC is beyond depressing to watch. I don't know if the NIT is in the cards at this rate.

I'll take the one point win over Notre Dame with this team. A little too close for comfort blowing a 12 point lead.

A wins a win and 9-6 is better than 8-7 at this point. Saves Hubert his job for another game.

I think Hubert is safe, barring a total collapse, but he’s going to have to make some staff changes. We have no interior presence, we don’t take care of the ball, and we can’t shoot reliably. I hope when Tremble gets back in the lineup, we just embrace small ball and push the tempo at all times. We only have five guys worthy of double digit minutes per game.

UNC has been typical UNC this year. They either get a huge lead and just fall asleep or they start slow and have to claw their way back in the game. RJ continues to ignore when it’s just not his night and will shoot any shoot good or bad and just blow possessions. I’m starting to think after this year RJ Davis will have played more games for UNC than Dean Smith coached.
