It depends how far off the rails this goes. If UNC ends up .500 or worse he might not survive.@RDU VOL#14 still think he has a job come seasons end?
It’s crazy how much the league has dropped off . When you lose 5 HOF coaches in such a short period of time it’s hard to imagine that there wouldn’t be a drop off, but not at this accelerated pace. Leonard Hamilton is 76 and he’ll be the next to go, especially w/ these guys suing him over NIL . It’s truly a shame that the league as a whole has become mostly mediocre.Honestly I can’t remember the last time at this point of the season only one team in the ACC is ranked in the top 25.
Yeah it’s very surprising to see. SEC is the new power basketball conference and it’s been slowly taking over and now it’s here. SEC has a lot of dynamic coaching personalities too. It’s crazy how much the league has dropped off . Much like ACC fans don’t really understand college football fandom the way the SEC does, SEC fans don’t really get college basketball the way the fans on Tobacco Road do (Kentucky does I guess) . Even though the SEC is the best basketball conference, the passion (although great) isn’t at the same level.Yeah it’s very surprising to see. Very True as a Heels fan we accepted mediocrity in football years ago along with the conference as a whole. Remember when we brought FSU into the conference and later on we added Va Tech hoping they’ll make the ACC better? It didn’t take long for the ACC to just pull them down right to mediocrity too. Now I guess the PAC 12 wants some too.Much like ACC fans don’t really understand college football fandom the way the SEC does, SEC fans don’t really get college basketball the way the fans on Tobacco Road do (Kentucky does I guess) . There’s no greater example of the ACC bringing down a school than Miami. There are a lot of factors at play, but the fact that they haven’t won an ACC championship during their time in the league is crazy. FSU was dominant until around 2001 or 02 and then they started to slip some. This past year was awful, but they put together some decent seasons every couple of years. The league as a whole isn’t good. The fact that UNC didn’t play a ranked opponent this season is a joke. How is that even possible to play an entire conference schedule and not one of those teams be ranked? Also, how does a team from AAC come into the conference and go undefeated in conference play? The conference has no juice . Jim Phillips seems like a nice guy, but the conference doesn’t have an identity.Very True as a Heels fan we accepted mediocrity in football years ago along with the conference as a whole. Not to mention the last seasons when we had Drake Maye and the last 4 games or so we just sh@t the bed both years. There’s no greater example of the ACC bringing down a school than Miami. UNC has had a run of really good QBs and skill players. Some of my buddies were saying this past year was going to be a good season. I remember thinking, if Drake Maye and Sam Howell didn’t get you to the level you wanted, Max Johnson is definitely not that guy. It seems like UNC is always really good at something, while at the same time really bad at something, or somehow blowing a game to UVA or something stupid. Maybe this thing with Belichick will get everyone rowing in the same direction and the “Sleeping Giant” will finally wake up. we’ve all been hearing this sleeping giant thing for about 30 years. Not to mention the last seasons when we had Drake Maye and the last 4 games or so we just sh@t the bed both years.
Mack had them on the precipice of being a national contender, but he left for Texas (with good reason - better job) they handed the keys to Carl Torbush and it’s never been the same.UNC has had a run of really good QBs and skill players. UNC had some really solid teams back in the mid to late 90s. Then they would always run into the buzzsaw of 90’s FSU and get brought back down to earth, like a lot of people.Mack had them on the precipice of being a national contender, but he left for Texas (with good reason - better job) they handed the keys to Carl Torbush and it’s never been the same.
IIRC, they finally beat FSU at home during the Julius Peppers years and I think that offseason is when Mack left for Texas.UNC had some really solid teams back in the mid to late 90s. Then they would always run into the buzzsaw of 90’s FSU and get brought back down to earth, like a lot of people.
Yeah he was D coordinator at Bama, aTm and Miss St. Was head coach at ETSU from 2013-15. He passed away in Sevierville not long ago. I just looked all this up, bc I thought remembered that he might’ve passed away recently.I don’t recall. Didn’t he wind up on staff at either Auburn or Alabama during the 2000’s?
