Official Fire Dave Hart Petition..........

I support Dave Hart and the job he is doing to disband the women's athletic department. For too long they have acted like a separate entity from the university and the brand that is the University of Tennessee. No other women's program that I have ever heard of calls themselves anything other than the name of the university they are associated with. Their branding of "Lady Vols" is a shot to the face for the university. They should be referred to as the Tennessee Volunteers in all sports played over there. As far as releasing Pat Summit that is an unfortunate thing that was bound to happen due to her illness. They could not keep paying a million dollar salary to a coach who was no longer coaching. Anybody who watched a game last year saw that she had turned over coaching to Holly. Hart's actions were just a continuation of what was already started. So get over it. There's a new sheriff in town and he is here to get both houses in order.

The Jennings situation will play itself out as will this deal with Pat. Its not the fact/idea of him telling Pat she's not gonna be the coach. But IF...IF he told her this PRIOR to the NCAA tourney, that is a problem. The way it looks to me is that he told Pat, then brought her back in to tell her she misunderstood what was said. That's my take on it, like it or not. No way in hell I'm gonna take Harts word over Pat's. Let's just let it play out and see what happens. I've got a feeling Harts gonna look bad coming out of this.

Hart has lost all credibility and it can't be regained even with Summit trying to be as politic as possible. He lied over the Power T issue to the press, told her to go, and then turned around and called another meeting with her and said she misinterpreted what he'd said. Summit is being classy as always by not getting involved since Hart smelled what was brewing after she broke the news to a few people and changed his mind and let her decide on her own terms what to do. She could nail his balls to the wall over it but understands that the university would be hurt by the scandal.

The trouble is that it's already hurt us and Hart has been revealed as heavy handed and flat out stupid when it comes to handling the internal politics of his department -- that is the epitome of mismanagement and a failure in his leadership. Jenkins has her own ax to grind and it's a shame this got dragged up when Pat wanted to leave well enough alone but it has come up and Hart's credibility has been severely damaged by it.

Every Vol fan, everywhere, should join you! I didn't like the hiring of Hart any more than I liked Mine Hamilton's hiring of Lane "Liar" Kiffin. We need an Athletic Director who has the best interests of UT Sports at heart, and not his or Jimmy Cheeks' own axes to grind. In my own personal opinion, both Dave "Liar" Hart and Jimmy the "No Backbone" Cheek need to be fired.
