Official Fire Dave Hart Petition..........

The bad thing about it is, it has the potential to get a whole lot worse, especially if it is found out that Hart had a say in her departure.

I thought the fanbase was divided before. If Hart pushed out Summitt and she wanted to stay, UT is going to explode and not in a good way.

This is a very tenuous situation that has me frightened for the university. I called my dad and talked about it today. This can get really, really bad. I know Hart usually doesn't go out and refute media reports all the time, but Hart, Summitt, and Cronan need to make public statements and I pray to God they all say the same thing.

We need to get rid of Hart and contact Dale Jones, Al Wilson, Peyton Manning, or Jon Gruden. If none of them are available maybe Lovie Smith or Bill Cowher will consider UT. If all else fails we can call Randy Shannon and Butch Davis or maybe Dooley becomes AD and Bobby Petrino as HC.

This has to be in the top ten all time dumbest posts on this website. There is no way you can actually be serious.

It's not good for anyone. I believe I have seen it all at this point. It is scary to think what Al Davis said in his letter to Tennessee. It seems everything he said has happend.

I honestly think it would be a scene similar to when Kiffin left UT for USC. Except worse.

You are absolutely correct. The UTAD needs to get out ahead of this and try and get some control of the story. A day they rest and don't put anything out is a day that they are letting the news networks, papers, and blogs control the story.

Not sure what you mean with the Al Davis letter.

It'd be x20 times worse. Kiffin was a flash in the pan head coach that no one liked. Pat Summitt is one of the most universally respected women in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with a terrible disease. Her being fired would be absolutely horrible in the public eye, whether it was right or not.

Not sure what you mean with the Al Davis letter.

He claimed if we hired Kiffin , it would be the downfall of our football , men's basketball and women's basketball programs. I know things are looking good with Cuonzo , but we did have a major setback there with Pearl. I'm not saying he was dead on , but things certainly haven't been good around here lately.

Hyperbole by Davis, unless he was saying Kiffin was some sort of curse. Which is possible.

The reason this seems obvious to me is because nothing has been said by Pat until this stuff with Jennings came out. I know I could be wrong , but when she went on TV and said this was her decision and they gave her everything she needed going foward , I just don't see it any other way. She has been around and hasn't said one thing about this until now. I feel she is being used and may not even know it. I've had to deal with this in my own family and I didn't watch all of her games last year , but when I did she looked like she was somewhere else in her mind. It's a horrible thing. I think what was done was best for her and her family knew it. And I believe she did too. It's not like they told her she couldn't be around anymore. But what happens if she continues to coach in her condition? I think for her own health she needed to step aside. The timing of this tells us a lot. I also think she will have a tough time in court proving this because of her condition. It is a mental disease. Who are they going to believe? I know many here respect Pat , and I am one of them , but in court it doesn't matter how respected you are if you have mental health issues.

Probably be a competency test at that point.

He basically called him a cancer and talked about the connection with Tennessee and the Raiders. He also talked about the success of Summitt and what he knew about Coach Pearl and acted like this would be the end of it all. I don't believe he really knew something. I just know he was right about Kiffin , but crazy as hell. Probably all a coincidence. Just odd that what was said has basically happend. There was a statement by Davis and a letter sent. I'm not sure which it actually was. It really doesn't matter. Being a Cub fan is enough to make me want to avoid any talk of a curse lol. Though that word has been used a lot here in the last few years.

Oh, I agree with you.

I'm just saying that it was probably not just HIS decision, if it was his at all. Part of his (I'm sure unwritten) job is to be the fall guy too. Why do I think that....because that is how it is anywhere in Corporate America. Anyone on here that has or is working at a high level in CA knows this to be true.

Prior to finding out about Pat's illness, I would have said that she should have been the obvious choice for AD. But, I also believe she would have gotten a wake up call once she took the position. The Womens Athletic Depatment was on the way out regardless. I read somewhere this morning (sorry, don't remember where) that the WAD was losing 800k a year. Facotr in all the money just to break even, before losing the 800k (ie...salaries for the WAD) and you are probably talking 4 - 5 million dollars that could be used in other places, such as on the actual athletics.

Was Hart a dumbazz in the way he did it...probably. Was it going to happen regardless. Yeah, I think it was. We were one of the few schools in the country that actually still had a WAD.

i agree with that. should be interesting how all this plays out.

I'd like to think that a guy with DH's experience would know that even nudging Pat towards the door would be career suicide. So, if he did, then he isn't the right guy for the job.

I think there are a lot of political things behind the scenes. We know this Jennings is a bitter, hard to deal with person. We also know that Pat is loyal to her people.

I just wonder how much her medical condition may come into this. Having dealt with someone with this condition, I know how bad it can be. We don't know how advanced Pat's condition may be. Just this past week, I was dealing with an alzheimer's victim. Did not remember what we talked about just minutes before. And the next day did not remember conversation at all.

So giving her a position as coach emeritus is running her off?

Telling her the way it has been described is the most disrepectful and unprofessional way of handling the situation possible. Where is the repect due a legend? I guess at my age we should just be thrown out with the garbage.

You sound pretty bitter about this seeing as you dont know what the conversation was between hart and Summitt. The affidavit is rather vague when it comes to what was actually said IMO. The person who should be getting all the hate and rage about in this whole situation is Jennings.

We have the most idiotic fanbase in the nation. Yes, even more idiotic than Bam's fanbase.

I agree. I don't think you can find a UT fan on this board (or probably anywhere) that does not love Pat, but given the situation and the hand that was dealt, It was the right move for Hart. Pat even says in the same affidavit that they met later and that she may have misunderstood the meaning behind the original conversation.

Debbie Jennings seems to me to be the real problem here. Bitter woman who rode on Pat's coat tails for 35 years. I'm sorry, but how hard could her job really have been all of that time? PS made it very easy to put the UT label out there nationally and internationally.

Sorry Debbie. Your free ride is over. Move on.
