Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Vandy / Bama shows less talented teams sometimes win.
Sometimes it happens to us. Sometimes we do it to others.

Arky was fired up for the game.

That "On any given Saturday ..." has always been true in the SEC. Even the Vandys can bite if thing are off; it just happens. Main reason when the other conferences are pushing for 9 conference games, you just don't do it because it's too much like Russian Roulette. We've got some teams that may be less than but always cause trouble - AR, MO, KY, SC, and FL come to mind. All those might be pushovers, and then they might not. There's a history of weirdness about those games.

Does he if we take out Bishop's longest run?

No, but a 53 yard run is pretty aberrant when you look at all the other runs this game. I will have to say that Sampson was really heads up when Nico missed the ball on that play. Not saying Sampson isn't good; sometimes Bishop just needs to get in the game more.

Bishop misses blocking assignments.

I just think it's silly to omit one part of the data to reinforce a preconceived narrative.

I personally don't care who plays. Would just like them to play well.

What really annoys me about today is that OH St is likely to move to the top spot in the rankings and ND is suddenly going to be a top 10 team again. Having TX in No 1 doesn't feel any better either.

I missed on the blocking part, and I did see Sampson with at least one good block tonight. Either nobody really blocked well, or Nico was clueless about what to do with the ball tonight. It was a bad look running around behind the line and getting dumped with the ball in his hands - and it happened way too often.

Arkansas is a good football team. And were superbly coached tonight.

Doesn’t excuse the sh!t show we saw tonight. Jmo.
I wouldn’t go so far as to sat Arkansas was superbly coached tonight. We were very poorly coached tonight. We got an 11-point lead and basically tried to run the clock out.

Arky has had our goat for a long time. Truth be told we didn't deserve the win against them in '98.

**** game. We have concerns to address. Nico's youth showed tonight. We were banged up on the veteran end of our receiving core for most of the game. O Line struggled. Their receivers made a few great catches.

The offensive play calling was trash.

Bishop missed a couple blocks that got Nico sacked.

All of this. Especially playcalling. We got outcoached. Made adjustments at half, 2 TDs. They adjusted and we had no answer.

Losing our top 2 WR destroyed our passing offense. Makes sense. Where were those 3 TEs that looked so good vs the other 2 decent teams we played?

Arkansas Dline beat the brakes off of our Oline. Our 2 tackles were not ready to play. False starts killed us...again. Just like @UGA, @SC, @Misery. Thats a pattern. Opponents know it. Fanbases likely too. Thats on the coaches.

Interested to see Aaron Murrays weekly breakdown of Nicos play. Not because of Nico...he played pretty well considering IMO. We lost our 2 best outside WR and as Herbstreit mentioned Ark went into a weird Cover 3 type defense with all 3 safeties playing zone in the middle of the field to stop anything over the middle. It worked great. They werent worried about Brazzell (who?) And backups outside and 3 safeties shut down middle of the field.

Our defense played like grown men up front. Armstrong tore up our secondary bad. Made McCoy look human for the 1st time this season. That kid at Bama is scary good grief. Ready for him to hit the NFL already and we havent even played him yet.

Snap and clear. Better flush this and get ready for the gators.

Anyone can control our run game with our line playing like the dainty little sissies they played like last night.
So what you're saying is, anyone can when we do not play up to potential? Seems like a truism to me.
I'm saying not everyone can when we play up to our ability.

I give Arkie D line credit for being extra motivated last night.
