Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

We got to show up. Can't roll in thinking we are going to skate. Need to put the down early.

No doubt Louder. We cannot start slow like we did yesterday
Our first 3 posessions? 11 plays for 22 yards and 3 punts. We do that at Vandy and we are probably down 7-0 or 10-0 on the road. Nico has to play better, and he will have less time to throw...a lot less. Vandy is gonna blitz the Hell out of their LBs in the A and B gaps (holes on each side of Center). UGA did it for the whole 2nd half and shut us out. 100% chance Vandy tries to replicate. We HAVE to make them pay when they do with quick passes to where that LB was SUPPOSED to BE....whether TEs on short crosses, slants, etc. It was embarrassing that our offense apparently hasnt practiced the plays in our playbook designed to take advantage of the short middle part of the field enough to make UGA pay most of the snaps they blitzed from there. The Oline flat got whipped. Dont know if yall noticed, but Spraggins didnt play our first 3 posessions yesterday. Nor some later obviously. Our starting Tackles didnt play a whole lot either Dane Davis played a lot yesterday...hes the one who accidentally stepped on Nicos foot and hurt him a bit. Hope the starters got enough rest to really heal up and get ready for Vandy.

The other glaring issue, which I talked about during the game...was our Edges/DE getting WAY too far upfield and losing contain. Their QB running was more than half of their offense in the 1st half till he got hurt seemed like. Pavia will run wild on us if we dont either:

1. Play far more disciplined on containment outside

2. Put a spy on him like we did eventually yesterday, especially on 3rd down...which worked to great effect. Will be interesting to see what Banks schemes up for Pavia. He did a great job vs Milroe, and honestly a great job vs Arkansas mobile QB too...that guy just managed to place balls 30 yards down field into windows that NFL passers struggle to hit...all while running for his life. Green? Had by far the best game of the season against us by any QB under duress...he made some amazing throws running for his life that 99% of the time just don't happen.

Hopefully with all the Senior leadership this team has on both sides of the ball, this team is able to remain hyper focused knowing that next week is really game 1 of the playoffs for us. Vandy is playing for bowl eligibility...but moreso to be spoilers for UT which is their Superbowl. We will get their absolute best.

Remember 2016? We beat UGA, FU, AND Bama....then lost to SC and lost BADLY to Vandy to end the season. Vandy flat beat our azzes. I turned the game off early...and I NEVER do that. We better be Hyped Up and ready to play like it was Bama or Flarda...or we will sit home for the playoffs. Fwiw...i think we come out super focused, defense dominates, and we win by 14 points or more then enjoy our BYE WEEK to heal up before the 1st ever HOME playoff game at Neyland. GO VOLS

My bad. Point stands though. We beat UGA, Flarda, Blew out Mizzou and Kentucky....and lost to freaking Vandy. Lost to SC too actually....but getting our azzes handed to us by lowly Vandy to end the season was a humiliation that knocked us out of the top25 and landed us in the Music City Bowl instead of somewhere decent. We did beat #24 Nebraska in the bowl at least.

Bottom line is our 1st playoff game is really next Saturday in Nashville. If we can't beat them soundly then we shouldn't be in the playoffs anyway. Its nice to be a top10 team again though. Hopefully we spank Vandy and get that playoff game in Neyland round 1...

Errbody in the RF is panicking because David Sanders is at the Buckeyes this weekend. Sounds like a leverage move trying to get more $$$ out of Tennessee to me. Weird thing is his parents have money anyway...they arent poor by any stretch. Apparently he has an agent/handler manipulating things behind the scenes. Regardless...the kid was the 1st guy over the wall when we beat Bama a few weeks ago...and has been peer recruiting this whole class. This 2025 class has 11 players in the top300 nationally...and several just outside 300. This is a big, big class for us. The kind that puts us on a more level playing field with UGA. Just gotta hold it together...and hopefully add the top50 Dlineman from NC, and the RB Morris thats committed to USC in the next 2 weeks as well.

Kids are going to take trips. I'm sure they are one hell of a time.

And our very own @McDad

Edit: I think perhaps I was vague and this post was mistaken...this gif ^^^ was courtesy of McDad making fun of Bama/Old Miss. He posted it originally and I was giving credit same as i gave to FLVOL79... i was in no way giving McD a hard time. Lol. Just didnt want to post his gif from another thread in the FF as if it were mine.

Lot of info in there. VOLS open as 11.5 point favorites with the over/und at 47.5 points. So roughly expecting 30-17 good guys.

Vandy is ridiculous against the spread this season tho, AND against the spread vs SEC at 7-1 and 6-1 respectively. Bottom line: better pack a lunch. They will be fighting their azzes off til the very last snap.

Vandy is bowl eligible at 6-5...but they are on a 2 game losing streak having lost to texas, then at LSU yesterday. Hopefully they are beat to sheit and our Oline and especially Dline can take over the game in the 2nd half like they did against Flarda, Bama, OK, MSU etc. I don't want to limp into the playoffs with a stressful 1 posession win where we barely edge Vandy. We have a noon kickoff again...Nico and company need to come out early...punch them in the damn mouth and have Vandy playing from behind the whole game which they are NOT built to do. We will have limited posessions in this game and we have to make them count. Beat Vandy soundly by at least 10 points and we can host a playoff game in Neyland for the 1st time ever. Time to let our nutz hang and remind Vandy why and how we OWN the great state of TENNESSEE.

Lagway is the best QB in the conference right now. You guys keep him, and he stays healthy...Look out.

That game in Gainesville gonna be rough next year. Our whole season next year may very well depend on how good the Oline and Dline players we buy from the portal can compete in the SEC. We are replacing 3/5 of the Oline and about 60% of our total Dline players as well with 4 of them going to the NFL at a minimum. We will need to land at least 2 solid players on Oline, and at least 2 on Dline from the portal. Probably 1 transfer at LB as well, and 1 WR too. The rest of our roster should be fine with returning players and class of 25 guys.

had a rough weekend. my fiance's grandmother died about a week and half ago, and her funeral was this weekend down on the gulf of MS. Fiance hasn't slept well since the grandmother died and was sick. so of course I got sick too.

despite me telling everyone I was going to be out for a funeral friday with no access to the internet. I had 5 phone calls, 2 voicemails, 65 project related emails, 10 are urgent. had a project that was dead come back to life, and that owner wants to get things out the door before Thanksgiving of course, after its been dead for 5 months. of course that is on top of everything else I need to get done this weekend.

and I have to take the car in, parts have been in but the death/funeral threw things off.
