Jimmy called out Trey for being irresponsible. So I'm guessing he's throwing it back to Jimmy. Meaning Jimmy is being used to misdirect. Heck, I don't know.

I’m going to fan the flames.

If there is a “misdirection campaign” (or “smokescreens” as they were called back in our youth), those pulling the party line (like Hyams presumably) would think it irresponsible to leak actual information. Maybe Wallace is relaying information that others have been told is confidential, off the record, or to be denied.

Do I believe any of that? No. But it’s a plausible explanation for those who believe that a deal is done and why so many people apparently know while some in the media are outright denying.
