There are 4 people on this board I believe. A couple of others (exaggeration, maybe 5) I pay attention to. Other then that, I use common sense. If Gruden is not our guy. Well, that puts Currie in a tough spot with the fan base and any potential coach. If not Gruden, he has a responsibility to set a platform of success and excitement. He will have NO other option but go public with an announcement. This will get the fans back in line and getting ready for another possibility. IT'S GRUDEN!!

The fact that Gruden hasn't put it to bed yet is the most telling thing to me. The argument that he's not going to comment on it while there's no vacancy is 6 days gone now.

You’re correct on this. I will also say that as badly as the majority of the fan base wants Gruden, it doesn’t matter who the next hire will be, they won’t look as good since his name has been floated out there IMO.

That’s not me saying I don’t want Gruden, I do, I would not be so consumed by these threads and the Grumors on Twitter, what I am saying is that no matter who the hire is if it isn’t Gruden it will not look near as good as it should.

That being said.....

Sooooooon

This worries me, Doug Matthews was just on the radio in Nashville and made the statement that the recruits have been told we will hire someone around December 10th. Not the news I was hoping for, because if its Gruden (who I want) why would we wait till then? Anyways hope we really get this done and Doug doesnt know. Heading out to Knoxville now. GO VOLS!

From his modification of the post, I suspect he meant that Gruden would want to be involved in the extra practices that come with a bowl game. I doubt Gruden cares about the bowl game itself, but the extra practices would be a big deal.

No way involved with practices either.

This is what I feel as well. If he was not coming or had no interest I feel he would have squashed it by now.

Yep. What Peter Burns said on Finebaum yesterday was actually spot on. He called Currie and Gruden out and said they have a responsibility to put it to bed if it's not realistic because if they don't say something and say something quick, the coach they hire will be a huge letdown and at a disadvantage right out of the gate. He's 100% spot on.

This! Gruden not killing this publicly is reason for high hopes, not to mention the fuel he has added to the fire. All other info is subjective. Some I’m sure is valid, a lot of it is just plain “redonkulous” as someone said earlier. Either way, what a ride!!!!

I agree, If Gruden isn't the guy thats fine. If he goes from Gruden to Mullen without making serious offers to Peterson and Patterson then that is a big problem for Currie.

We were all warned that there would be misinformation and smokescreens involved with this rollercoaster search process. If Gruden himself or his agent have not commented and said “no,” then there’s nothing to worry about. Stop listening to the noise of the media. Relax. This is all happening the way the insiders said it would. To the point of another poster, if it’s not Gruden, then Currie has blown it and will be gone. Ergo, it logically follows that Gruden is a done deal.
