Hyams is basically the only media guy left who is saying no serious talks with Gruden. I think if he was that much more plugged in than everyone else, his track record would be better than it is.
I think his "contacts" are just people in the AD that want to control what's being said in the media. If that's the case, they are hanging him out to dry on this.
But anything is possible. I don't doubt Hyams has spoken to people inside the AD. Impossible to tell who is right wrong, and who is being truthful. Just entertaining to speculate.
A Vol for Life and former football player will make a dramatic entrance above Neyland Stadium this weekend.
Capt. Stan "Spider" Jones will fly an F-18 Hornet over the stadium ahead of the LSU game.
The flyover is set for 6:55 p.m. right after the national anthem.
Jones joined Tennessee as a walk-on and played during the 1985 and '86 seasons.
OT (sort of) - Living in a city with a NFL team, one of the things I've observed is that NFL coaches don't do nearly as many public appearances beyond press conferences and their own coaches show. I wonder how someone like JG would handle the pressures of constant booster calls, meet & greets, BOC, etc. etc.? That part of the job would be very different than his NFL experience...

Willie Taggart has been at Oregon for one year he isn't leaving for UT, that is beyond silly. Considering what Brohm has done at Purdue why wouldn't he be a candidate? I am not sure what some of you are expecting outside of Gruden. There aren't many sure bets out there and most aren't leaving for UT.
I wouldn't doubt it... I believe he is in contact with several coaches other than Gruden. It would be irresponsible of him to put all of his eggs in one basket, no matter how sure he is of the Gruden deal.
That being said, I hope Campbell is pretty far down the list... But still above Mullen.
I'm of the opinion that everything substantive regarding Jon Gruden has already been posted. We are now at a point that the only new information would be confirming whether or not Gruden has been hired and unfortunately the only actual confirmation we are going to get is going to come from Currie. If he is dead set on doing this after the Vandy game and if he is concerned about the fanbase getting too hot, he might consider a little misinformation campaign to buy some time.
I'm not saying that is what is going on but these people aren't stupid, they know they need to get the timing right, ideally that would be the end of the season.
Left him in Atlanta and went got him today... its genius!
You don't know that.
Yeah, just look what he's done for Purdue.. They're a real powerhouse I tell ya!
Please follow sir Brad. He's going to give you a private tour of the Pit of Misery.
