In 2012, did Grudens agent not release a statement of denial? Did Gruden himself not publicly deny?

Neither of these things have happened this time.

Hyams is basically the only media guy left who is saying no serious talks with Gruden. I think if he was that much more plugged in than everyone else, his track record would be better than it is.

I think his "contacts" are just people in the AD that want to control what's being said in the media. If that's the case, they are hanging him out to dry on this.

But anything is possible. I don't doubt Hyams has spoken to people inside the AD. Impossible to tell who is right wrong, and who is being truthful. Just entertaining to speculate.

The other media figures "reporting" this stuff do not survive solely on covering Tennessee, Hyams does. Why would he risk it?

Well I no longer had an excuse to not post a gif since I had two responses on how. So here it goes: I'm ready for the announcement next week or just after the Vandy game so negagrudes will finally transform from

Fingers crossed on this working!

Congrats, I love the boxes :)

On a side note....

wbir.com | Vol for Life to fly over Neyland ahead of LSU game

A Vol for Life and former football player will make a dramatic entrance above Neyland Stadium this weekend.

Capt. Stan "Spider" Jones will fly an F-18 Hornet over the stadium ahead of the LSU game.

The flyover is set for 6:55 p.m. right after the national anthem.

Jones joined Tennessee as a walk-on and played during the 1985 and '86 seasons.

OT (sort of) - Living in a city with a NFL team, one of the things I've observed is that NFL coaches don't do nearly as many public appearances beyond press conferences and their own coaches show. I wonder how someone like JG would handle the pressures of constant booster calls, meet & greets, BOC, etc. etc.? That part of the job would be very different than his NFL experience...

I think he’d be just fine. Seems to be a people person. Very active within the community and goes out of the way to please others. Took 50 college kids for dinner that they will remember for the rest of their life. He’s even about honorary brother of AGR here at utk.

I'd say that's one thing he's worked out already. He'll probably have 100% control over what he does IMO.

Willie Taggart has been at Oregon for one year he isn't leaving for UT, that is beyond silly. Considering what Brohm has done at Purdue why wouldn't he be a candidate? I am not sure what some of you are expecting outside of Gruden. There aren't many sure bets out there and most aren't leaving for UT.

Yeah, just look what he's done for Purdue.. They're a real powerhouse I tell ya!

Please follow sir Brad. He's going to give you a private tour of the Pit of Misery.

I wouldn't doubt it... I believe he is in contact with several coaches other than Gruden. It would be irresponsible of him to put all of his eggs in one basket, no matter how sure he is of the Gruden deal.

That being said, I hope Campbell is pretty far down the list... But still above Mullen.

Could it be that Currie is possibly interviewing assistant coaches given that JG is, or could be, preparing for MNF in Seattle? In other words, Gruden may be tied up and can't interview his prospective assistants. Thus, Currie flying around conducting those on JG's behalf. JMO

I'm of the opinion that everything substantive regarding Jon Gruden has already been posted. We are now at a point that the only new information would be confirming whether or not Gruden has been hired and unfortunately the only actual confirmation we are going to get is going to come from Currie. If he is dead set on doing this after the Vandy game and if he is concerned about the fanbase getting too hot, he might consider a little misinformation campaign to buy some time.

I'm not saying that is what is going on but these people aren't stupid, they know they need to get the timing right, ideally that would be the end of the season.

Yep.

Just got to wait it out. Got the lsu game tomorrow. May spend the next few days paying attention to things I’ve been putting off...wife, son, freinds, work, ect...

With all the trolling that Gruden did this week. If he doesn’t take the Tennessee job I will personally revoke his VFL card...permanently!!!

Left him in Atlanta and went got him today... it’s genius!

Could be why the Uncle said he got on the planne. Just stayed in Atlanta..Makes sense. But really think it would be strange to have anything today..Day before game..I think Monday earliest for this and more likely Monday after Vandy. But hey..never know

You don't know that.

By my count the sure bets in CFB today are: Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Dabo Swinney, Jimbo Fisher, and maybe James Franklin. Nick Saban isn't going anywhere, Urban Meyer isn't coming to UT, James Franklin is from Pennsylvania, Dabo Swinney isn't leaving Clemson for UT, and Jimbo Fisher has a large double digit in the millions buyout. Which of those 5 is coming to UT for any amount of money?

I am not sure how college coaching works but doesn't a school need to get the OK from another school to talk about a job with a coach that they employ. I understand the agent thing but if someone was going after a coach at UT everybody and their brother would know.

Well they won 3 games the previous year, have been in every game this year, and beat Missouri by 30. I would say that is a pretty good turnaround in year one.

If you're going to offer Gruden 10M per. Just hit up Saban and offer him 20M per.

Money is nothing to those on VN.

No denial in 2012 until 11/28. We still have a long runway before we get there.
