I have been lurking in the Volnation Gruden threads since 2012. I followed them daily and, like most on here, was heartbroken when it didn't come to fruition. This go around, and against my better judgement, I jumped back in for one more dip in the pool and started lurking, following every post with laughter and anticipation.
I decided to pop the cherry and post for the very first time in Thread 37. I have followed UT football my entire life, attended my first game in 1985 (6-6 Tie, Ga Tech), got my degree there (Class of '99 - those were some awesome fb years), and was even fortunate enough to marry a UT gal. UT has, and always will be, a huge part of my life.
These threads are just a constant reminder of how great and loyal our fan base truly is. As bad as it's been for the last decade or so, we are still here and we are still striving and yearning for Tennessee football to be great again. I, for one, am proud that our administration has hopefully realized that they have the greatest fans in the nation and are out there trying to land the best coach possible (JG) to lead our team back into relevance. I truly believe that they have come out of the corner swinging and are putting forth the effort and resources required to bring Gruden to the Hill. If that is the case, and he ultimately declines, then I can accept that as his decision and we'll move on.
But if they do succeed (and IMO, they're going to), I will see all of you in Neyland next fall and we will remind the world how GREAT it is to be a Tennessee Volunteer!!
Soon...
