Like I said, I wasn't around for all that. I want to believe. I'm just looking for reasons not to, so I don't get crushed when the deal inevitably doesn't happen.
This is so hard, I have been a Pro-Dooley guy from the time he got here. However, the Mississippi State game did me in (mostly), I have argued he needs more time, but the more I hear the Shula comparison the more I believe it is true of Dooley. I think Dooley is an exceptional guy and I wish him nothing but the best, but I feel it is time for a change.
I do think we owe him a little gratitude for taking a position that no one seemed to want in 2009, on the brink of NCAA violations and a terrible roster and AD. He has built a good foundation, but it is time for us to thank him on his way out.
Great administrator/ caretaker.....poor football coach.Dooley is Shula. We don't have to make it a bad thing. Shula brought Bama back off probation and weathered the storm after the Mike Price fiasco. He brought in talent and depth for the next coach. Dooley is doing the same thing for us. He just isn't good enough to take us to the next level.
