One would think Hart would want to shoot down the Gruden thing quick because if it doesn't go thru then fans would be in for a big letdown and he would get the brunt of a lot of it.
I know we cannot copy and paste from premium sites but as far as I know it is fine to copy and paste from there. Someone correct me if I am wrong...
I believe either 1. Dooley is done...2. Dooley's continued employment is resting on the next two weeks....or 3. Hart is just so terrible with the public and Tennessee recruiting he is just going to sit back and let everyone squirm.
And I don't think it is #3...If he was planning on Dooley being here after 2012 he would have already said so. Hart is a proactive guy and is on top of things and most certainly this.
Wow some of them are smarter than the average Hog!1. They would not need to have all of that money upfront to fire Dooley and hire another coach. Buyouts are not paid in a lump sum. Dooley is in big trouble and a big reason UT is losing money is because of lost football revenue. Unless there is a miraculous finish, he's gone. This is coming from family that I have in Knoxville that love and worship the Vols. I'm not pretending to know what is going on over there just because I watch college football.
2. If firing Dooley is imminent and Gruden wants to coach in college, him going to UT makes much, much more sense that him coming to Arkansas. And if he wants to coach bad enough (I don't think he'll be a life long TV guy), who's to say he wouldn't take less than 5 million? That number didn't come from him that's just Hogville speculation.
3. I don't know if some of you understand that the UT athletic budget has nothing to do with the money belonging to their bigtime donors. You don't think those guys are ready to pony up to hire a winner and fire Dooley? Do you not think they have just as many (if not more) of these money guys as we do? Of course they do, you just aren't familiar with them like you are ours.
4. Out of all the ties Gruden has to UT, you chose the bit about him owning land in East Tennessee to dismiss as just a rumor. I laugh at this because you are willing to argue with everyone about Gruden based on nothing more than rumor. If you read the rest of the post, there are many connections between Gruden and UT that are not rumor. The LEAST important piece of that list was him owning land there.
5. I think some of you guys want to believe this stuff so much, that you refuse to think about it logically. If your argument is only that UT can't afford to hire Gruden, you are simply wrong. Like I said before, the athletic budget is not where the money will be coming from.

Here's a good scenario to consider:
The Vols unleash the Dooleywhacker 4 -4 -4 defense on bama and beat them by one on a last second field goal.
Then they travel to SC and early in the game, Spurrier thinks he got a bad call, so he gets that "Oh no, I'm a-dyin'" look on his face. Right about then Bray throws a frozen rope pass that hits Spurrier right in the face, knocking both his visor and that look off his face. And also knocking him out. And since neither team has a coach, the Vols win in an upset.
Then the next day, Dooley is let go and Gruden swoops in and begins assembling the best recruiting class in CFL history.
Everybody wins.
Who sez old folks cannot be optimistic?
