It will be interesting to see. I think Hart was hired to hire a big fish. We are in limbo right now. Dooley is a lame duck.....but Hart isn't going to pull any triggers until the stars line up. Now it is just a matter of time.

Here are the 2 stars that have to line up IMO.

1. 3-5 start
2. Reach an agreement with your new coach.

All over but the waiting. We may get blown out the next 2 weeks. We will all be happy by years end though.

Sorry....I'm no longer ambiguous. Can't tell you why....but I'm not. Flame me, or disregard me, but watch it play out.

I understand you can't go too deep on it but are you affiliated w/ boosters, coaches, agents, staff, AD, Janitors, ticket sales, Peyton is that you?

Takes a little creativity to reach and agreement with coaches at this point. Most of those guys (besides Petrino) aren't going to directly negotiate with an AD while you have a sitting coach.

LOL....no, and until it happens nobody has any reason to believe me. I have personal friends that are. I'm nobody. Even so, I wouldn't risk the board beatdown I would get if I hadn't triangulated his information elsewhere. I'm not the only one on the board that has heard.

I'm certainly not going to flame you. You know as well as anyone that we have been down this road many times, though. So a little skepticism is good for the soul.

For my part, I am a realist about the situation. I like Dooley, and unlike others, I think he could develop into a fine coach if given time. But UT is not in the business of developing coaches. That is just the way it is. There is just no time at a place like UT to have somebody learning on the job while our rivals keep getting better.

I am not convinced that Gruden is going to be able to come in and win and recruit as easily as some think. I also think that you would have to be post-mortem if you weren't excited at the prospect regardless.

The intangibles a guy like Gruden brings to the table are undeniable.

The mutual interest is real. I've heard enough to be convinced of that.

No I understand, you are certainly putting it out there, win or lose its ballsy. So pretty confident are you?

From what I have took from the post, #1) Dooley knows his demise is near #2) Gruden has been contacted by 3rd party agents and they are working on the principle agreement #3) sometime after USCe he will be benched while interim Sal or Jim Chaney finish up. Correct?

Ridiculous isnt it. Firing a coach after beating Alabama and SC or a combo of either one is just ridiculous.

The timeline on Dooley is fuzzy. I should say when they'll announce is fuzzy.

The rest....I'm no longer ambiguous.

Let's just assume for argument sake that Gruden would be available for a certain price, UT will be competing with 3-4 other big name schools (i.e. Ark, Aub, and possibly other UT) and at least 2-3 NFL openings, which could include Cowboys, and I guarantee whatever we are willing to pay him Jerry Jones can easily match without blinking.

I just think Gruden is an absolute pipe dream and that we would be better off discussing serious candidates for the job.

True.

I was thinking more of is there any interest to begin with, knowing what it would take to pull it off, and knowing if your willing to that. Specifics can be ironed out later.:)
