I and a few others said last week, Dooley has already been informed that he wont be the head coach next year. Time line to make public was supposed to be after USCe game. An a$$ whoopin to Bama shouldn't speed things up because everyone expected this.

Everyone is looking for minute by minute updates but decisions aren't made like that. Look at the timeline laid out a few days ago and you will see that it is all falling into place.

You do realize some of us have a need to sleep and quit hitting CNTL F5 don't you......

Not looking for a debate, or to doubt anyone, or to disrespect, but the logic doesnt make sense if that were the case. If decison makers didnt think they could lure a big hire right now, then why would they wait for it to be even harder next year?

Buyout is lower, recruiting status would be better given that we are in on Green, North, Bell, Johnson, and some would say Lawson. Plus we are still in a terrible recession. People forget these boosters don't have money that grows on trees and their extremely stingy.

If he truly resigns, he gets nothing. If he is asked to "resign" he gets his buyout negotiated.

If he gets fired, he gets it all without question.

Fired=resigned. No difference just semantics to save face because fired is not great on a resume.

Exactly. Timelines are fluid however when you get embarrassed in front of the VIPs in attendance. People that matter cannot be happy, the halftime clock mgt debacle was almost as bad as the second half effectiveness and play calling.

There isn't a rush to make it public. The decision has been made. Negotiations are taking place. We all knew that stomping Bama was going to give us.
If they decide to go public now, it wasn't because of the way we got crushed.

alright. time to set it straight.

its been terrible watching the vols this year. we have had missed opportunity after opportunity. However, Hart is not going to fire dooley unless he loses to Mizzou, UK, or Vandy. If he loses to one of those teams, he is gone. Most people on here say its a done deal and he is gone. that is so far from the truth. Dooley is back with a 7-5 season. No realistic booster who has made hundreds of millions looks at one game and makes a rash decision. Thats why they made so much money, because they make smart, focused, and thought out decisions. Is the writing on the wall for dooley? sure, 2013's schedule looks worse than ever, however boosters are not sure they can get the big hire they need right now. these lower tier boosters have contacted gruden, but they are not the haslams or thornton. is gruden interested? yea he has an ear out but is not waiting anxiously for a phone call. If dooley closes out with wins even after a loss to USCe, he is back next year.

i don't love mediocrity thats a great assumption you have. but I don't make 35 million dollar decisions as people say the current "structured" contract is.

Haslams have some dough. Buyout is not much lower next year, if I read correctly. Also, even if recruits are on board next year your current talent could drop off in a big way. If admin and boosters have no confidence in DD, then I cant see any way they wait a year. All that does is give 5 or so programs a shot at hiring good coaches and take them off the market for next year, sink program lower, and lose $ due to fan apathy next year.

Just because I post something that is 180 degrees from what everyone else has been secretly emailing each other does in no way shape or form become false. Boosters are what they are because they make extremely smart decisions with their money, and think years ahead of those decisions. these same boosters wanted dooley, and they got what they paid for.
