I met 3 UT fans last night that said they wouldn't fire Dooley even if they knew Gruden would accecpt the job! They said Dooley needs 2 or 3 more years and then we will be good again. Are you kidding me? WTF kind of spell does Dooley have over some of our fanbase?

Were their names Will, Mark, and Steve by chance???

I just don't understand why so much of our fanbase has bought in to the idea that we are just so bad that it takes a coach 5+ years to show results. Almost every great coach I can think of has shown some kind of results within the first 2 years. Not to mention most of them don't have a problem making sure 11 men are on the field at all times.

They are the true negavols.

I would like to know how many coaches have ever started out 0-15 vs ranked opponents and then miraculously come back to win a conference championship, much less a NC.

Because we had an AD that was more focused on faclities than coaching hires. And he did not want to pony up the cash to get a top shelf coach. The current AD is totally different and you will see fruits of that soon.

Hiring a new coach is a lot like buying a new car, you look at past history of both, you weigh the pros and cons and you make your purchase. Once your purchase has been made and the payments start then you evaluate your bang for your buck.

Rule of thumb here is:

Good is seldom cheap and cheap is seldom good.

Good morning,Grudenites!

How is everyone on this fine Monday morning? It's a glorious day in the Gruden neighborhood.

Slept like a baby last night.:snoring:

Noticed that there was an avi fight over that new pic of Gruden in the UT gear..I like both of the avis with that pic!

People think because Majors had time given to turn it around that applies to this situation. Majors won a NC so he was a proven coach. It was also a different time. Coaches didn't make millions. I'm tired of explaining this to the fans you are talking about.

Hey smokey I was wanting to know how can I obtain an avi. Please help

I was listening to the early crew on 104.5 here in Nashville this morning...the guys were talking about Gruden and this is what they said regarding Chris Low's take on the situation...

"According to Chris Low Gruden said he would be interested in the Tennessee job if he didn't get offered an NFL job...basically it sounds like a polite way of saying no thanks."

I can't remember what Low said but I don't recall him saying it that way.......anyone want to clarify because that doesn't sound too promising...not that Low is the be all end all of inside info I just know several here were hanging their hats on Low as proof that the behind the scenes stuff with Gruden was happening....not panicking just curious on your thoughts. (OV, Jay, Boro, Bearcat, etc.)

Do you guys realise there is a thread called "Is Gruden a better coach than Dooley?" on VN right now? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Breath deeply, relax, and wait. There is a process to this for appearance sake.

Nobody with any intimate knowledge has based anything on Low. The only thing Low's statement represents is that information is starting to be leaked out through official channels for public consumption.

There should be a download feature on you VN acconut strictly for your avatar..Find the pic you like, right click on it and click "save picture as"..Then go to your "edit avatar" section on VN..You will see a "browse" feature and your computer pic files will appear on the screen...Find one you like click "open" and it will download to your computer, or it should..Your computer is probably different than mine, so the above instructions may vary.:salute:

I think Low said that last night on "The Nation," with John Brice. If I recall correctly, Low said Gruden would be interested but most likely only in the event that a favorable NFL job didn't open this year.
