There is always one guy everyday, it never fails. However, this time we get a guy that is brand new to the board, unless it is Slice's alter-ego.

I'm pretty sure that's why he got fired, not because he could not raise money and spend it.

But if I am not mistaken, wasn't Dooley's Breaking News thing on ESPN later at night? Around like 7-8 pm? I maybe so off that Im not even in the same solar system, but for some reason I remember I was at an Embessey Sweets, and I thought it was like 8pmish.

Kiffin leaving was around that time.

...not sure about the Dooley hire.

First two are a plus in my book. Kiffin was the right hire. Due to crappy timing on Carol leaving he left. Had he stayed, we would not be on the bottom of the SEC.

What I've been told is that Gruden is meeting with several big donors this week. More of a formality thing. Haslam hammered out the basics of a deal after the MSU game.

Some have heard he is scheduled to be on campus, others have heard meetings with Hart.

OCI heard what he reported.

Basically, no one has ever seen a Dave Hart hire so following this has been crazy.

This all is looking good and while there is no way to 100% confirm any of this, there is way to much continuity of the information.

Pearl was a good hire as well imo. Can't blame Hamilton for the BBQ fiasco. That was all on Pearl. It was more how Hamilton handled the situation afterwards that ended up being his downfall.

Actually, I have been reading this board since 2009, but I forgot my login info and created a new account instead (shame on me).

And to retort your quote: "There is always one guy every day who says he knows who's coming to UT, it never fails."

Tell me oh wise one, which among you predicted the arrival of Derek Dooley? My guess is I can go back and find the same threads in 2009 about Gruden and about Lovie Smith and about 4 or 5 others on UTs "wish list".

The reality is always much more mundane than the dream.

Um...hiring Fulmer and Pearl were great moves by him....Pearl made UT basketball relevant and that made it the AD profitable. The fan base is alive as ever. Second Fulmer won a National Title, and a couple of SEC titles. So he was a good hire too, just ran his course here. So those weren't bad hires.
Yes hiring Kiffin, and Dooley were bad moves but AGAIN...look how much he offered both guys. He would not throw big money at anyone.
At USC Kiffin is getting 4 million. A coach that went 7-6 at UT is getting 4 million. That is money being thrown. And look what happened.
Also, Hamilton's bad hires, mixed with cheapness, and other bad moves is what got him fired. It takes a little more than two bad hires to get someone fired.

I'm assuming Gruden is scheduled to come in some time this week to continue talks if they started at MSU.

....yeah it's over for today. Things were looking good for awhile.

One thing is for sure - Dooley has been told he's out. You can see it in his eyes.
