I will be attending a group meeting with Bill Haslam next Tuesday afternoon the 30th. Assuming all is going according to plan Dooley will no longer be coach and Gruden may or may not be hired at that point. Are there any questions that you guys/gals would like me to ask him for you?

Tell him to let us have Gruden. Tennessee has seen enough.

Not saying yes or no. I have specific information that something is happening but not specifics of the contract more specific to the preparations that I have seen twice first hand with Kiffin and Dooley. Cannot post, but Jay knows and can confirm I am not FOS about it lol. I have to be very careful as my information directly pertains to my employment.

While I am at it let me set something else straight. I made a statement earlier that "I have a family member on the team" and Spartacus Vol called me out. I told Jay how this came about, and want to come clean that it is not a true "family relation" as much as an ongoing joke form the summer. I will not say how, but I spent a lot of time the last 2 summers with some of the players and with one of them it became a long running joke that he is my "cousin". In reality my aunt and his aunt were college roommates. Doesn't make anything I said untrue, but that relationship was a little exaggerated and for that I apologize.

Jay can vouch for me as a whole, as I have shared the complete picture with him of my connections and how it came about. Its a "work thing" for me and I have to be very careful. I just do not want this to haunt me, and Spartacus Vol seems to know what he is talking about. I value VN and the people I talk to on here and do not want one misstep that CONSTANTLY gets called out and referred to by SpartacusVol to affect that.

As far as posting, I’m so new it may not mean much but, no apology needed.

Ask him if he truly plans to move the Browns to Knoxville.

That is the rumor

Because he has run Cleveland in the same manner a clown would for the past 2 years. Oh, and he wouldn't step up on the RG3 trade, who is kinda awesome. Not good on the resume.

Browns fan? Sorry, if so. You might get Saban......

Also not good to get Gruden.

*sigh*

Afraid I didn't. I was getting updates on my ESPN app. Statistically, it looked like sort of a dull match. Did you get to see it?

Should be some good ones today. I'm happy Chelsea lost and was really pulling for Celtic.

I saw most of it. It wasn't great. BM looked like they were mostly disinterested.

Could you ask him to have his guys come fix the pothole in front of my house?

It is not a good idea to provide contextual clues about where you work and how you may or may not be connected. That is all.

The starting point of my view on this is that Gruden is a seasoned NFL head coach with a super bowl ring. How many guys go from that to the NCAA, no matter which program it is.

Any coach would agree that the NFL is a step up (if you're good enough to hack it, unlike say Steve Spurrier). The goal is to advance your career and take on the biggest challenge, which is always going to be in the big boy league.

To me, this makes it easier to believe that if 3 or 4 NFL teams wanted Gruden, then he would prefer that over any college team, not just UT.

You can say "if he wanted an NFL job he would have had one by now". But you can also say "if he wanted the UT job, he had two chances already to take it."

Not trying to be a downer, just offering up where my perspective comes from when I read all this stuff.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying. However, I don't think that:

a) anyone thought it would be so bad by now here at UT
b) that we were willing to pay what it took to get Gruden the first time(s)
c) Gruden knew how much he might enjoy working with younger players until he started that ESPN Draftee show. I think his attitude about truly "developing" talent changed after that. And that would be a new challenge to a guy like him.

He has a Super Bowl ring...and two appearances...so there's not much left to shoot for in the NFL. In fact, I think that works in our favor because even Cleveland would start expecting a Super Bowl in a few seasons.
