He's an aggressive X's and o's guy who knows a ton about football. He's been held up as a football guru on ESPN for years now and should be able to instantly get us back to top 10 recruiting classes. He never sleeps and he'll outwork just about anyone. He's always demonstrated an ability to adapt his offenses over time and, with his current interest in the Oregon system and work with Chip Kelly, I think he could put something really dynamic on the field. Plus, I know our rivals would not be happy, which would be a refreshing change.

What are you talking about? Half this site was backing the worst football coach in UT history up until a few weeks ago. I'd say expectations are at an all time low.

I'm a guy who wanted to rehire Fulmer after the Kiffin fiasco (and fire Hambone immediately), but I think Gruden would be an absolutely home run hire, and probably the only sure thing we could hire.

Would anyone actually be disappointed if Gruden is the next coach at Tennessee?

I wouldnt be disappointed but really not excited either. I would be in a wait and see mode just like any other coach. Right now though just about anything is an upgrade..

The recruits he would attract first of all. Secondly the coaching staff that he would bring would have us looking all world

If just going on recruiting merits alone, there is a guy that can go toe to toe with saban and he already has inroads in ga and fla and has made a huge name for himself on the recruiting trail. Name you ask? Kirby Smart, by and away their best recruiter. The guy saban turns to and finishes the deal. Rarely loses head to head. Mike bobo is the only one that can match him. Hmmm, we can take him too as OC. Sadly, we need more than a recruiter, give me bob stoops if not Gruden.

Rather have Patterson or Petersen, if they turn it down I would be fine with Gruden... Really want Patterson and Bumpas together though...

i'll support whoever is hired, if it were up to me though I would take Coach Strong as I think he has less risk and has a proven winning college coaching record as an assistant, sec coordinator and head coach at Louisville, who also has serious recruiting chops.

Jon Gruden isn't hired? Will anyone be happy? Will y'all think we are just settling? Who's fault will it be Gruden or AD? What if we just land a mediocre coach? A lot of questions I know BUT the seem to all be very good possibilities. ( During Harts press conference yesterday he said they don't have much money but some boosters and people close to the program are willing to step up, what do you think the max salary we will pay anyone?

Heck why not.....heck he can't hurt the program anymore.....Fulmer would get us back on track and I bet get us to the promise land in a few years.....yep why not?

Actually Hart said money wouldn't be an issue.

I read somewhere (don`t remember where it was) that said he was demanding a 10 year contract for 5 million a year. I don`t believe Tennessee will pay that much.

I may be alone here, but I don't want Gruden! If he does come to UT, he'll be here until the first NFL team calls and then he'll be gone and we'll be right back to square one. I'd rather see us get someone that actually has a chance of staying and laying a good, solid foundation for years to come! Hopefully...he'll be able to coach as well!

You are not alone. But all the Grudenites will crucify us for feeling this way. I just think there are better choices.
