Official Jon Gruden Thread V

Skeeter has posted quite a few interesting post, in the Vonn Bell thread over the past couple days, for anyone interested.

With all due respect to Skeeter I went over there and he is talking a possible bowl matchup with USC and "thinks it would be a fun game". USC would beat us 75 to 30. That is not my idea of a fun game.

I think it's about time to put this thread out of its misery.

I like the idea of a generic "Head Coach Search" thread. It's clear the Gruden thing has run its course.

RIP, Hopes for Chuckie.

I say rename it the "Save UT football! Fire Dool-pigeon!" thread......

Interesting. We all are in agreement of course about wanting Gruden AND we all seem to be in agreement that Petrino is an awful idea. ?

We ALL don't agree with you about Bobby P we certainly aren't all in agreement

Their defense is almost as bad as ours. We should be able to put up more than 30 on em.

We Tennesseans are very conservative, and we despise womanizers. Petrino is NOT coming to UT! except as coach of KY! He`d be a good coach in Yankeeland or California. Them folks don`t care about morality as much as Southerners.imho

Being a "womanizer" has nothing to do with why I can't stand Petrino. That's between him and his wife. It's the fact that he is just a lying, narcissistic human being. The way he took a sh*t on Louisville and Atlanta and then his selfish ways ended up screwing Arkansas, he's just not worth the risk. He would do the same to Tennessee. It's all about Bobby, no one else.

I've been a longtime reader of this board and I've had no need to post until now, when a friend of mine (who works in the AD's office) sent me this.

Shoulda just stayed a lurker cause your first post is about as FOS as I've seen. I hope you're just trolling cause if you believe what you posted, bless your sweet little heart!!

I was referring to his post regarding recruiting, the BOT meeting, coaching situation etc, not the possible USC / UT game.

Interesting. We all are in agreement of course about wanting Gruden AND we all seem to be in agreement that Petrino is an awful idea. If the people on this thread can agree that Petrino is horrible idea that is one more reason I'm not buying that he is an option. We are the most rabid of UT fans and even WE don't want BP so how would the average fan that just likes going to games and tailgaiting but not as emotionally involved react?

I'm most likely in the minority on this one and I will take bashing.
If given the choice of going through another season of Dooley or hiring Petrino, I'm taking Petrino every time.

Here is my coaching list...sure to be followed with much ridicule.

1. Gruden
2. Gruden
3. Gruden
4. Gruden
5. Gruden
(Go all in numerous times to try and pull him to UT)

6. Bob Stoops
(if his buyout could be negotiated--the guy needs a change of venue...he has hit the wall at OU...a fresh start could do him wonders)

7. Fulmer
(let the egg throwing begin...it worked for K-State...Give Phil a 3-5 year contract and negotiate a low buyout and see if he can recapture some fire)

8. Cut
(The guy can coach and has disciplined teams. If he hired some guys around him to recruit I believe he would get more out of the players than most could. I think he could keep us in the SEC East race consistently and compete for SEC titles occasionally)

9. Strong
(The guy can recruit...plain and simple...not sure if he can coach but he is a risk that may be worth taking because he would at least upgrade our talent level)

Absolutely NOTs
Petrino (no character)
Mullen (I don't want a spread offense)
Tuberville (probably a better coach than Cut/Fulmer but not the ties to the program)

Just read skeeter's take in the Bell thread. I must say that I'm more depressed now than I have been all year. To think that we could be stuck with this crap for another 1, 2, 3 years because our own administration is in the way is unbelievable.

Who has the power to remove the BOT? I don't belie e we should have individuals that just roll over to the AD, but to have those on the Board who through their own short-sightedness would stand in the way of the AD becoming the best it possibly could is definitely a very goo reason to fire them all and start from scratch.

JMHO.
