yep. If DD came back, I'd guess 8 wins would be necc to keep his job, I just dont see it. This year was the best shot he had, and luck has nothing to do with it. That defense has been bad, but with that talent on offense, UT should be outscoring people even with suspect D. Texas Tech won tons of games with bad defense, many teams have. When DD's main defense is "we arent losing by as many points as we used to lose by", you know it's time to move on

I don't think I could stand hearing (we just have to come out next week and get over that hump). That has to be the biggest d*** hump in the country.

Five is the number of SEC Titles Gruden will win at Tennessee
Five is the number of losses Gruden will have in his first 3 years at Tennessee
Five is the number of All American's Gruden will coach in his first 3 years at Tennessee
Five is the number of SEC Coach of the year honors Gruden will win
Five is the number of 1st round draft picks that will come out of Gruden's first recruiting class
Five is the number of times Gameday will be in Knoxville in the first 3 years of Gruden's coaching term.
Five is the least amount of years Gruden will be Tennessee's Coach.
Five is the number of Heisman finalist Gruden will coach at Tennessee
Five is the number of times Gruden will beat Bama and FLorida combined in his first 3 years at Tennessee

FIVE BABY!

This is a make or break time for the entire program IMO. I can't imagine how long it would take to recover if this guy does not leave ASAP

I tend to agree and can anyone recall how long it has been since UT football was mentioned among the elite of college football. If UT football continues to follow the current course, I fear they may end up as "Homecoming Fodder" for schools with real football programs.

or "we're this close". He has come a long way from "you dont have Tennessee to kick around anymore". I really wish him well, and I think it would be good for him to go and serve on staff again and grow into a head coach. If I were him, I would want out this year anyway. It just didnt work, no hard feelings, let's just move on for the best of all parties

I think Dooley will be fired between Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 and would expect the new coach to be named within a few days. My reasoning is:

1. Other than decreasing the anxiety level on Volnation, there is very little to be gained from doing it earlier.

2. It leaves the appearance that Dooley has been given 3 full years to prove himself.

3. Eliminates the possibly of Dooley winning 8 games.

4. Leave 2 months for new coach to recruit.

5. Hart has said a lot of good things about Mal Moore (Bama AD) and I expect he has sought Moore's advice on how to handle the firing. Moore fired M Shula one week after season ended and appointed interim to coach their bowl game.

Which one? There are like 12 assistant/associate ADs.

I didn't see a response. Big Will said that there were five players...three of whom are starters on the defense. He said that they met with Blackburn. As long as they are not DBs, I think we'd be worse without them. (Lather's won't be back next year anyway, right? I'm pretty sure he's as sr.)

If that's the case I hope he keeps it to himself. Our fanbase would freak out if they knew our AD seeked advice from Alabama's AD on how to handle our football program.

Pre-season 2005.

I think he has the option to come back if he wants, he redshirted his freshman year then got injured his RS Junior year. He's a RS Senior this year. So I think he has 1 more year of eligibility (because of his injury last year).

I don't think he sought advice on how to handle program, but how to handle the firing once he determined that is what he is going to do.
