Okay, now I'm depressed again.

Why? He said it wasn't inside info, and he believes that the people with info are right about DD being gone and Gruden being the 1st person on the list. He also said that this is a step in the right direction for the AD and that if Gruden is interested that they would find away to work everything out.

Okay, now I'm depressed again.

You have to be realistic as far as the university is concerned. One small agenda item means little, but could be the start of something bigger. These things have been discussed for a while from within, but they take a long time to iron out. UT may be a university, but it is as much a bureaucratic mess as any government in this country.

What I am saying is that I don't believe the academic issues and control issues are that big of a deal. Are they important? Sure, but UT isn't Vanderbilt and isn't trying to be. I would think the boosters and AD could promise enough control under the current system with the promise to revisit the issues formally in the future in a way that could convince a good coach to come here, IF the money is right. Remember, there is a price for everything. How many players has Cheek's policies really cost the program? Two or three? That isn't the difference in winning and losing to a coach like Jon Gruden. Program impacting players don't have these kinds of issues anyway.

I'm starting to think there is a chance. Small, but still a chance.

The hope for Gruden along with the long waiting and not knowing what's going to happen has our nerves torn all to sh*t! That said I believe we have better than a 50/50 shot at getting him. Just the feeling I get cause Boro and a couple others haven't changed their tunes. They don't have a history of trolling so gotta trust what they say until they are proven wrong.

On another note, it looks like USC might finally be getting fed up with Little Lane and tell him to pick up his deflated balls and hit the road. After enduring all of the jilted little schoolgirls on The FF pining away for him, I am surprised that we don't have a re-hire Kiffin thread.

Now there is an excellent suggestion for a smoke screen. That might be used next week. That would be a fun read for sure.:eek:lol:

-Close with Reid, not going to Philly..spot on
-Jerry Jones and Dallas is like a bad joke, not going to Dallas..spot on
-Cleveland is Cleveland, nuff said..not going to Cleveland
-I don't see him be interested at all in any other college job except maybe Notre Dame and they don't need a coach. We know the story, he started here, wife is from here, her family still lives here and they have land here. It just has Tennessee written all over it.

He's coming...no really, he is!!! GBO Gruden 2012!!!

San Diego.

This thread is....

Yep. The only concrete info I can ever relate is having to do with the financial issues and organizational structure of the university.

Also, just to explain my Cutcliffe comment, I didn't say he wouldn't divide the fanbase, that wouldn't change. What I said is that the important people would listen to him - the major boosters, Cheek, etc. Cutcliffe carries weight here, whether many of the fans like it or not.

Fulmer is another name. Now, I can't stand Fulmer - I blame him more than anyone for this whole mess, but he could potentially be someone that could fix the issues on the inside while still winning games. Charlie Strong is a good coach, but he will absolutely ZERO ability to have any say whatsoever with Jimmy Cheek and the important people.
