He could have stated that they have not talked about next year. He decided to go with implying that they had in fact discussed the situation and that no decision has been made by DH. Also refused to speculate on whether he would be the coach next year.

My point, though, was that if UT knows they are getting Gruden, they dont have to announce it to the public until later, but they can immediately fire Dooley now.

They could but then the media circus surrounding a coaching search whether real or not would be substantial and other coaches whether contacted or not may use the opening to try to better their positions in their current jobs or potential jobs. For instance...Patrino to Kentucky: "You know I am in discussions with Tennessee too". Then Kentucky hires Patrino and says he was never interested in Tennessee.

Hope that illustrates my point.

What are u talking about? I said I didn't know bcarter or whatever had any inside source on this Gruden stuff. Figured he was guessing like the majority of us.

Do you have to claim to be an insider if you post what you hear? You made mention that you didn't know he claimed to be one. Thats why I ask.

Do you think UT will fire Dooley at 6-6? and if so do they spend more than what Dooley is currently making on the next coach?

emphasis being, "told by Hart". This leads me to believe that the powers that be have made the call but maybe Hart is telling DD he is still going to bat for him. Just speculating, because, this is a specualtion thread

Maybe it's a smokescreen, maybe Dooley is lying or maybe Hart has told him nothing. All I know is Dooley still has the title of Head Coach of UT and Gruden does not.
