Jake, since you and I are still awake, here's something I copied from "The Craft of Whiskey Distilling" published by The American Distilling Institute:
"Diluting: The whiskey straight out of the barrel will be between 55 and 65% abv, and
it will require diluting to bottling strength. Whiskey is diluted to somewhere between 40
and 50% abv for bottling."
There is a plethora of information there, but I think this is where you and I had our differences.

thanks BristolVol...thats the way I was understanding the whole double distilling
process... just wasn't 100% sure on that whole process...
and I believe it would take me a while to go through a jar of 190...
I'll stick to my 120-130 proof...and wait on my brandy to come in
The chief distiller at Ole Smokey explained it to me differently. He told me that the white lightning is the original corn mash distilled twice. But I don't know...I just drink and sell it!! 😋
I'm not saying all the due diligence can't happen fast. I'm just saying it helps explain why this isn't happening tomorrow or the day after Dooley is fired. They had a true emergency reason when Dooley was hired because Kiffin left them hanging. They had no choice but to put off the due diligence. They won't want to do that this time, nor can they really justify it because they will be firing Dooley - it won't be as much of an emergency situation. It's the same rules as emergency procurement. Sure they'll move fast - if and only if there is a reason to. If Gruden is really the guy, there is no reason to move fast other than the fact that all of us fans can't stand it anymore.
One last point, I think the Haslams are trying to make a splash here. Is it just a coincidence that they bought a failing, crappy NFL franchise with rabid fans that just happens to be located in the largest city in the most important political swing state politically in the country? I don't. They turn that franchise around, they can all but guarantee the state of Ohio in a presidential election. I know it sounds silly and far fetched, but Gruden just furthers this theory even more because of his celebrity. I may be totally off base, but that family is some of the smartest, politically savvy people in this country. Everything they do is calculated.
Ya man...good to know. I have been in the bar business for 25 years and learned most of my knowledge either from professional drinkers, distributors, or makers. Certainly don't claim to have made any alcohol myself...only made money off it. Lol
I did however, when I established a working relationship with Ole Smokey, visit the distillery and got the grand your from the chief distiller and he explained the entire process to me and used traditional whiskey makers from KY and TN as examples of how whiskey is made...and that it's process has been misconstrued.
Thanks for the enlightenment and information!!
